Air Force issue model 15’s question

I know there is an extensive thread on USAF 15’s here somewhere, but here is my specific question. I have a friend who was an aviator in Vietnam. He told me when he was shipping to Vietnam, he was issued a model 15 here in the states to take with him. Long story short, he states then when he...

Broken J frame ? Hand and torsion spring - kindly confirm and advise

My favorite revolver my S&W 34-1 that I shoot extensively, broke yesterday ( during a shooting match of course!- a kind fellow shooter let me borrow a gun to finish) First the trigger failed to return forward a couple times, then the gun went dead, not rotating the cylinder. I suspected some...

Missed out on another one like a dummy

Local pawn shop I visited recently had a stone mint model 38 blue. Not sure if a box or papers, but priced pretty fair at $495. I contemplated it for a few days then decided to go back today and buy it. Already sold unfortunately I have to learn to pull the trigger faster on these old...

Weird question about extractor rod threads

I am a life long S&W revolver guy, and know the long known information that extractor rods changed from right to left hand threads in the late 50’s or early 60’s and that supposedly the extra groove just behind the checkering on the rod was supposed to indicate left hand threads. Strange is...

Anyone use the guardian purchase program?

I have been considering adding to my stable of guns, most specifically an air weight J for pocket carry in the hot Arizona summers. While I much prefer old school blue guns, decent affordable air weight J’s are hard to come by, at least in my area. I can’t remember the last time I saw one for...

    Is a model 10 really a $450 gun now?

I went to one of my local pawn shops today ( a rare day off for me to poke around the numerous local gun shops ) and they had a near mint 4” model ten. Price was $450. I know I am living in the past admittedly, feeling like $200 ( and less ) model 10’s were around not too long ago ( which in...

Help me understand what to expect regarding current pricing on revovlers?!

Good day all! A little background- I have been shooting S&W revolvers all my life, and they still are my favorite handgun type. Lots have come and gone over the years, but I am looking to add a couple to my inventory I am not a dinosaur, but it seems to me not too long ago revovlers we’re...

    Model 45/pre 45 rarity perplexing

We all here know the model 45 series is a pretty rare and valuable revolver. I find it strange that for decades the model 10 series guns were the most common police revolver around, and one would of expected a companion .22 training gun to be popular but wasn’t. Anyone have any ideas why? Lack...

    Various grip adaptor sizes info?

I have a bunch of Tyler T and older pachmayr grip adaptors in my junk box. Is there a chart or thread somewhere that lists the various size codes for these? Especially the older pachmayr?

More blued options - and a 10 shot 17 mountain gun

Written in several posts here before ( I am a broken record) I do not care for full lugs especially on .22's and particularly dislike stainless! In an ideal world I would like to see them go back to the days where every model was available in both blued or stainless ( or even nickel if that is...

    Model ten no dash

Since moving west last year, I have found very few older used revolvers in local gun shops. Kind of a surprise moving from Anti gun New York ( where shops were overflowing with old used classics it seems) to free America ( Arizona) where pickings are slim. Anyhow spotted a 4 screw model 10 no...

    Beretta 71(jaguar) .22 cal magazine

Looking for an original Italian beretta made magazine for my model 71- any one have one they can part with or know of a source? Most of the advertised sources I have been referred to are stocking only aftermarket magazines and I need an original!

    Finally got a 2" kit!

Been looking and bidding on auctions for a number of years trying to get a reasonably affordable 2" kit gun and finally yesterday won an auction. Will be sending out funds today and hopefully have the gun in a week or two! I had been wanting one of these and lamenting how I could not find one...

    10-7 pricing opinions please

Finally stumbled across a revolver that grabbed my interest ! Would appreciate some opinions regarding price. It is a 10-7 with 3 inch barrel and checks out fine mechanically However it is import marked cai and finish is a dull sandblast blue Without the import mark abdtrgular finish I would...

    Model 64 questions opinion

Since moving to a new state last year I have been trying to no avail to find a shop with a worthwhile supply of smith revolvers, but the best I can do usually do is a shop with maybe 2 or 3 in stock. I much prefer older blued steel. Anyhow I have been looking for a spare / backup shooter grade k...

    Blued steel please

Bring out more of your "new" model guns ( example 986) in blued steel! My dream gun would be a "919" blued steel k frame 9mm I hate stainless and don't even bother looking at anything new smith puts out as it is invariably in that god awful stainless

Various models serial number cutoff for curio and relic status

As a holder of a curio and relic FFL a question (may not be able to get a solid answer but any help is appreciated) For the models that span large time periods ( example the 10-5) is there a reliable cutoff serial number which can be reliably said " serial number prior to xxx in 1967 is a c&r?

Kydex revolver holsters- what do you recommend?

Some call it sacrilege to put a classic wheel gun in kydex, but it works so well for my autos I would like to give it a try for open carry and icore type shooting. While every one man shop to the big makers list endless varieties of kydex for autos, outside of j frames can't find much for...

    A 919

Would like smith to make a 9mm k frame similar to the 986. Would be nice if the cylinder could be cut for both moon clips and be able to shoot without clips also ( my thunder ranch 45 would shoot 45 without clips and a quick shake usually got all the empties out) And something in real blue. I...

Best method to keep ejector rod tight ?

Have a pre model 15 that is one of my favorites (obviously still has the old right hand threaded ejector rod) and it has loosened up a few times. I tighten it as best I can ( padded vice leather padding around rod to avoid marring etc) I suspect over time oil gets in and loosens it up again...
