Hey is it normal to find chalk marks on a K38?

Yeah I just got my hands on a vintage K38 from 1952 about 3 or 4 months ago thanks to a smith and wesson book I bought and its only just now that I've finally built up the nerve to clean the thing after shooting it twice, as it was actually unfired and completely new save for one little mark...

Hey does anyone have any information on the Illinois State Police Model 39 Extractors

Yeah I'm trying to find out what they look like, let alone if they actually made any, as I've been hearing for years that they made a modified version of the first model model 39 extractors after they were having breakages with them after they adopted them as their state police sidearm back in...

Need help with a stove piping 4006

Abit of a long story, this gun has had its extractor replaced, the recoil spring replaced and its function to my knowledge fully checked over. and its still stove piping, I switched from a wolf 17 pound recoil spring, the weight that they say is the factory standard to a 16, as it was stove...

Is this the 645 Trigger Hitch I've heard about?

I was having some sort of a weird issue with the 645 while dry firing. for a little bit there when I cocked the hammer and fired it it would catch in half cock mode and it seemed to only happen about 6 or 7 times. Then after oiling it and fiddling with the decocker it never seemed to happen...

Smith 645, can the front sight insert be changed to black?

I was watching vice the other day and noticed that unlike all of the other 645's out there crockett's had this black insert for the front sight on it instead of the standard red/orange http://www.imfdb.org/images/1/1c/MV4-SW645-2.jpg http://www.imfdb.org/images/7/79/MV-SW645-5.jpg so did a...

    Questions about the smith PPK's

Now I was just watching this about the PPK and at the 37:00 mark he mentions something kind of odd "Walther PP & PPK: Code for Cool" by Nutnfancy - YouTube (please excuse his tasteless use of photographs from the IMFDB where they point the gun right in your face. always makes me feel like I...

    Questions about the 4006 series

When it comes to the 4006, I believe smith's first auto rigged up for the .40 smith and wesson did the gun have any sort of teething issues like the glocks in the same caliber? namely that unsupported chamber problem I heard some of the early glock .40's had, although I dont know how widespread...

What grip does this J frame have?

I came across this gun and I'm curious what grip does this thing have? it doesnt look like a packmyer or a hogue and I dont really know what the style is for this kind of grip but it looks like it would be a good alternative to a full size rubber packmyer grip for a J frame.

What's the story on the 669?

I'm kind of curious about this little pistol, so what's the story on this thing and is there anything wrong with it I should know about it? I mean does it have an alloy frame and just a stainless slide or is it all stainless? its kind of hard to tell looking at the thing. and if its alloy is...

    About the Model 13

when it comes to the model 13 has that series had any of the reported problems that the model 19 has had when it comes to living off of a life of magnum loads or has it been spared this because of the heavy barrel the model 13 had from the getgo?

Is a New Revision of the CZ 75 inbound?

I was just checking the CZ website as it seems they've added some new models from the latest shot show on to it and I came across this on the CZ 75 B page CZ-USA -> CZ 75 B Take a look at the top CZ 75 there, the slide no longer stops at the rail like is has since the 1978 second model (making...

Question about the latter model 19 series

I dont quite know where I heard this but I rememeber either hearing or reading that smith and wesson started to use the 686's L frame for the model 19 sometime in the 80's and my question is, is there any truth to this and if so what dash/year did they start doing it?

Question about the 39 dervived series guns

Now while I do know this is a blank firing conversion gun it has odd issue that I've seen on actual live firing model 39's while browsing the auctions for one out of curiosity now take a look at the back end of the slide and the frame where they meet by the hammer, the slide is sitting back...

Did I miss any good .380's?

I've been trying to make up my mind on what to replace an alloy framed beretta 85 cheetah with and I want to go with some sort of steel framed .380 for its replacement but the only ones that I know of that have steel frames are the old walther PP series, maybe the older version of the cheetah...

Has Anyone tried the Pachmayr slip ons?

Now I'm fast becoming a pachmayr only fan as their rubber grips just feel a hell of alot better to me than the ones hogue makes. Like the hogues just feel way too oily, sticky and conduct far more heat from your hands than the pachmayr ones ever do, atleast with revolver grips as I switched the...

Sig 245: A Modern Detonics Combat Master?

when it comes to the detonics combat master I've always regretted taking an italian beretta 85 over an all black mint condition Detonics. and just recently found out that sig had also made a very small version of the 220 called the 245 that has the DA/SA Ability of the Sig 220 that looks damn...

Any .40's out there that shoot as well as the 9mm versions of the same gun?

My general perception of .40 call guns like the glock 27 and from what I've read the CZ 75 is that they never quite shoot as well and as easy as the 9mm version of the same gun which in the glocks case is the model 26. Ditto for guns that were originally first made in .32 acp like the PPK and...

    The 745

I'm just curious what's the reputation of that single action only version of the 645 and how good are they generaly percieved to be? also would it be possibile to do a straight frankenstein slide switch from a 745 to a 645 without any real gunsmithing work?
