Bought a Colt revolver and have some questions......

I bought a 1911 made Colt Police Positive in 22 WRF today. It is a pretty thing, just a little wear by the muzzle on either side of the barrel. The hammer and trigger are the Colt fire blue which is pretty awesome. The stocks on it bother me, they are fake pearl "MOTS" - need to know what is...

Took my Model 17-4 to the range today

It shot pretty good! The barrel is 6", the ammo was CCI purchased when Obummer was president and it looked like there was a shortage. First six is shown. I was aiming at the zombie's nose. This was at 15 yards.

Got my letter today - 38 Chief Special Target

I would say they have done a fine job! Note - see post #4 for the images - I think I have them right side up now.

At the range today with my S&W Chief Special Target

I did not adjust the sights although I probably should. I normally shoot a little left of the target - this revolver shot slightly right. The elevation was right. I shot some mixed brass with Winchester small pistol primer and W231 propellant. The bullets are 125 grain plated flat point from...

Guess I am now a member of the pre-Chief target club

I received this one yesterday. I can't wait to take it to the range. What year was it made? Are the grips original? Serial number shown in the picture of the butt.

Went shooting my Model 25-2 today

It went pretty well. My handloads have a 250 grain Bang and Clang LLC powder coated semi wadcutter over 231 powder. They were loaded in a Starline case with Winchester LP primer. The first six at 15 yards are shown. Note that my gun has an extra cylinder in 45 Colt. According to Roy it did not...

    Reloading dies for 450 Adams?

Wondering if anyone here has ordered dies for the 450 Adams (Eley, Corto Etc) cartridge? I have a box of factory rounds but need to order dies so I can reload it after I shoot it. This stuff is expensive! The bullets seem to be 226 grain lead round nose and I need some of those too in .454"...

Interesting comparison between Pythons and a Model 19 Smith

Compared: Vintage Python vs 2020 Python (warning: long and long-winded!) | 1911Forum This is a good read. The S&W Model 19 (I think it is a Model 19-4 but it could be a 19-3) is towards the end when he is actually comparing the old Python to a new Python. And of course the S&W blows both away...

    Shot my Model 25-3 today

It likes my handloads of W231 (old batch from when Winchester produced their own powder) under a 250 grain powder coated semi wadcutter from Missouri Bullets in a Starline case with W-W primer. First image shows the first six at 15 yards. Last image shows 50 - I got lazy towards the end and...

Took my Model 19-5 to the range today. I have a new favorite handload.

The handload is made with AA #7 under a 158 grain powder coated semi wadcutter from Missouri Bullets. It is very accurate and clean. Highly recommended. The revolver is one I bought new in 1981. Great purchase I think. The target shows the first six I shot today.

32 Hand Ejector Target at the range today

According to Roy this revolver shipped in May 1907 from the Smith & Wesson factory. Imagine that - Theodore Roosevelt was President. The Panic of 1907 had not happened yet. Income tax was a decade away. Prohibition was only a dream held by Temperance folks. For this one to still be accurate is...

Went to the range this morning with my 19-5

I bought this one new. It's seen a lot of ammo since 1981. Today was pretty good. Here are the first six:

Got a message from Midway USA that 32 WCF brass was in stock!

I got all excited. The notification came about 4:10 PM today. By 4:12 I was on the computer, logged in on the Midway USA site. It would not allow me to put the brass in my cart. Midway USA is out again.

Smith Model 19-5 - What kind of sight is this?

I've had several S&W Model 19-5 revolvers over the years. One I had came with Patridge front sight, all the others are red ramp / white outline which I think comes with the target hammer / target trigger. The Patridge version had the skinnier hammer and trigger. So what do you call this one? It...
