    ... worn out m-659 ?

My 659 won't go back together. The guide-rod won't stay clipped to the barrel anymore. The teeny-tiny notch on the barrel appears to be worn out. {Won't hold the rod and spring}. What's the fix? Thanks- Don ~ P.S. Pictures included ONLY because I know how everyone likes pictures.

    S&W black powder carry-over:

I got to thinking about the black powder usage of S&W revolvers. This lead me to wonder just how far into the twentieth century did S&W continue to put the black powder anti-fouul cup on the under side of the top strap. Enclosed is a picture of that cup on my 38-44 serno 438XX that Roy says...

    NIB never fired, M15 snubby

...while we're here, anyone ever notice the no-step-down shape/cut of top of the frame where the barrel meets the frame? The entire top of the frame, and barrel, and sight is flat. {Best viewed from the side}. Only one I've ever seen like this. Any-way, I've had it hidden away for a number of...

    My 'S' number M&P:

    Grips identification:

These grips {I am told} are from a pre-war "N frame" HE. How can one be certain of that. What are the outstanding give-away features of the grips assuming that there is no serial number showing on the right panel? Is the checking, or the outline, or the medallions unique?  Also, what types and...

    Extractor rod shroud:

...we know that the model 53 .22 cal. S&W was the FIRST hand ejector in any frame size to incorporate a shroud for the extractor in that caliber. My question now is what year and what model number was the SECOND revolver in .22 cal to incorporate a shrouded extractor rod?

    Straps, front and back:

I'd like to talk about front-straps and back-straps. I believe that S&W HE revolvers have used three types since 1896: smooth, six groove, and ten groove. {Maybe more}. I'm wondering if there is any semblance of use that can be applied to: the model number, the year, the frame type, or any other...
