    Selling firearms for family member

Hi all. My friend's father unfortunately passed away recently and owned a few firearms. They're not real collectible and the kids have decided to try to sell them. How does one go about legally selling firearms in this manner? The kids are all over 18 (in their 50s actually). Thanks.

    Any M&P R8 owners?

My Dad just ordered an M&P R8 from a local gun shop but not obligated to buy. He's not new to S&W revolvers. He owns a few pre-lock classics in .357. But, he decided it was time to get a new one. What do you think of the R8? Dad's read reviews but has never fired one. Anything to look out for? I...

    Counting Ammo

I tried to count the number of rounds in my newest gun. It's a 686-6 with 375 rounds (150 magnums and the rest .38s). I may lose count as my brain just may want to stop counting. So do you count your shots or have you given up keeping track?

    Smith and Wesson holster

Found this S&W holster. Its numbered "21 32" below the logo. I think it was made for a 2" - 2 1/2" barrel. Not sure when it was made. I tried my 3" 686+ and it seemed to fit OK without too much effort. The end of the barrel is about 3/8" above the bottom - the front sight seems pretty tight at...

    Plinking ideas

I'm going plinkin' in the morning and bringing a bunch of stuff to shoot up and was wondering what else to bring. So far I have a flat board with some Shoot-N-C stick on targets which is fine but not very dramatic. I also have a bunch of plastic bottles of varying sizes, shaving cream cans, full...

    Unfired 66-3

Someone in my family has a 3 inch 66-3 in his collection that he bought new 25-26 years ago. This jewel has never been fired. Now he wants to send a box of .38s through it and end its safe queen status. I thought it's pretty cool to have an unfired gun like that from a collection standpoint but...

    Looked at a model 29-1

I'm kind of new to 29s but it had a 6.5" barrel, bright nickel, Pac grip installed but also had a factory wood grip and original box. In my eyes it was as new. Very tight minimal wear. They wanted $800. Good deal? Production year 1960? Thanks. I also looked at a nickle Colt Python right next to...

Another "is it worth it?" question for a K frame

Today I looked at a very clean Model 19-5 (1982?), 2.5", nickel finish, factory wood grips, outstanding shape, no box. Dealer was asking $599 on consignment. Does that sound reasonable?

    Trading new for old?

December 2010 - I buy my first new S&W revolver. I researched only enough to know I wanted a 3" 686. Hey it's a S&W so I can't go wrong - right? I buy the gun for $600, shoot it, add wood grips, buy speed loaders, love it. Time passes, I start to learn about the dreaded-by-many internal lock...

    Hello from Colorado

Hi all. Glad to finally join this forum. Let's see, I like S&W revolvers but didn't own my first until age 50. College, braces and other expenses of raising a family. I finally got a 3 inch 686-plus for hitting the big five-oh last year. It's new and shoots awesome. I love the gun and am also a...
