Considering Sending My Hi Power to BH Spring Solutions

Hi! I bought a previously owned 1989 Hi Power a month ago. I have had a few issues with it. I called BH Spring Solutions and talked to John Zelinski. He recommended I send it to them and have "Core Services" done on the pistol. He estimated a turn around time of less than a month. The price was...

Looking at a 1989 Hi Power

My local gun shop has a nice 1989 Hi Power in 9mm. It comes with the original box, papers, and 4 magazines. The rear sight is fully adjustable. The front sight is ramped with an red insert. It looks like the previous owner put on a Cylinder and Slide no bite hammer. The price is fine. Any...

    Different Barrel for 686-6

I have a 686-6 (new in ~2013) with a 6" barrel. If I wanted a new 4" barrel put on (I don't want it cut down) is that something SW would do as custom work? If not, can I get a new 4" that a qualified gunsmith could do the work? Thanks!

    Model 17 4" vs Model 18 4"

I own a nice Model 18-2 4" (see pix) with a birth year of 1964. My LGS has a nice Model 17 4" (I think -3). Looking the 17 over, it is hard to see much difference other than my 18 is P&R. What is there a basic difference between these two models? Thanks!

    New to Me K22 6"

An early Christmas present. A K22 6". Serial number dates it as 1954. It is a 5 screw. Frame, stocks, cylinder, and barrel all have matching serial numbers. The finish is kinda a flat black, not the polished blue like my 18-2. Very little finish wear, only on the tip of the barrel. It looks like...

    Switching a Barrel on a 27-9

I own the new version of the Model 27 (27-9) with a 6.5in barrel. It has the barrel insert. If I wanted a 4" barrel instead of the 6.5", could Smith do this by just putting on a new barrel rather than cutting down the existing barrel? Thanks!

Withdrawn: WTB/WTT N Frame Square Butt Combat Stocks

I would like to buy a set of N Frame Square Butt Combat Stocks. I am not looking for collector grade. Just a decent set to use during shooting. I have some nice sets of N Frame Square Butt Target stocks that I'd be willing to trade towards the combat stocks (see attachment).

    West Virginia LEO Qualification Course

HR Funk on youtube has been doing a series on the LEO handgun qualification courses for each of the 50 states. He has now shot all of them and will compare them. However, he had to "make up" a course for West Virginia. He was not able to find a written course from any LE department in WV. If...

Do You Actually Practice with Your Handgun Like You Plan to Use It?

My question is prompted by various discussions about having lights attached to you handgun via a rail vs. carrying a light in your non-dominant hand. Set aside for the moment which you prefer, instead I am asking about how you practice at the range. If you have a light attached to your handgun...

Carrying Cross Draw After Shoulder Surgery

I had right shoulder surgery (my dominant arm) a few months ago. While I am recovering very well, I still have issues reaching and drawing from my IWB 4 O'Clock oriented holster. I expect this will resolve itself when I recover more, but for now I need to do something different. I tried moving...

Need to Stop Using Anti-Gun Terms

We all can get caught up and use the anti-gunners terms. We need to stop doing this. Large capacity magazine should not refer to any magazine above 10 rounds. Instead we should only use this for maybe 50 or larger magazines. Any magazine holding "normal" amount of rounds like 15, 17, 20, etc...

J Frame vs K Frame for CCW IWB

I have recently been carrying my Model 66 4" as my EDC IWB. I carry it in a Garret Industries IWB revolver holster. Previously I carried my Model 60 3" in a similar holster. What I found is that the added weight of the 66 does not seem to make it any harder to carry. With the grips I have on...

    A Rant

So on another forum, I posted a thread asking people about gun XYZ. Is it any good, what issues they had, what they like, etc. The I state I'd like replies from only people who have actually owned and shot the gun. The very first reply was from someone who said "Gun XYZ is ****! Gun ABC is much...

Pachmayr Gripper grips on Round Butt J Frames

Has anyone else had issues with the fit of Pachmayr Gripper grips on Round Butt J Frames? I bought a set for my Model 60-15 round butt. The grip would not "close" on the trigger guard side and at the bottom. I got a replacement set. This set closed better on the bottom, but still did not close...

I Need Surgery for Detached Tendon in Shoulder

Just talked to the doc and they need to do shoulder surgery to reattach a tendon. It is my left arm but fortunately I am right handed. Doc says 5 weeks in a sling, a couple of months rehab, and should be good as new in 6 months. Outpatient procedure so I don't have to eat the hospital...
