    Appropriate ammo for a 1962 S&W 36 no dash

I just picked up a model 36 in .38 special and was wondering what kind of ammo is safe to shoot. I was thinking 158 gr. lead round nose or semi-wad cutters. Any other bullet weights I can safely shoot? What about jacketed rounds?

Anybody else buying the precious metal dip?

Silver is down over $2.00 since yesterday. Picked up a tube of silver buffaloes. If the silver price continues to drop on Monday I have two firearms I can sell to pick up two more tubes. Buy the dip. ;)

Price check on a .38 Safety Hammerless 5th. model

A neighbor of mine is interested in a nickeled 38 Safety Hammerless 5th model I have. It has the 3 1/4 " bbl. and walnut grips that number to the gun. I also have a letter for it that shows it shipped in 1923. The SCS&W says walnut grips on this model are scarce, and have a small premium if...

Looking for info on this S&W 45 ACP revolver

I came across a S&W 25-2 in .45ACP made around 1980. It is roll marked " 45 Cal Model of 1955" on the right side of the barrel. Is this the model that had the oversized chamber throats I've heard about? The seller is asking $1150.00 and it looks to be in great shape. Any thoughts?

I have a nickel 38 Safety Hammerless 5th Model with the 3 1/4" barrel and checkered walnut grips that shipped in 1923 according to the factory letter I have. It's in excellent condition. The SCSW 4th Edition, page 100 says "checkered walnut grips scarce, worth premium if original to gun". My...

S&W 29-2 missing one cylinder extractor pin

Today I was looking at a S&W 29-2 in nickel with the 8 3/8" barrel made in 1980 according to the serial number. Upon close examination I found that one of the extractor pins was missing on the back of the cylinder under the extractor star. Considering it's a .44 Magnum, is it safe to shoot with...

    7.62 X 39 AK-47 ammo corrosive?

I've been trying to determine if this ammo with the headstamp "TPZ KOPP" is corrosive. It is made by Tula in Russia in the early 90's when the US banned Russia made ammo. Tula sold this ammo to a man named Kopp who repackaged it and shipped it to the US as made in the Czech Republic. I tried...

    38 S&W Military & Police 1st Model 1899

Hello all. Looking at an early M&P 1st Model. As I understand it, models of this revolver made before serial number 7300 did not have a caliber marking on the left side of the barrel. The serial number is marked on the barrel. Is that the only place to find the serial number on the earlier M&P...

    Solar Generators

Looking to invest in a solar generator for "just in case". I was wondering if some of you have any recommendations or have any experience with this kind of technology. I like the concept of bringing them inside the house to power appliances, and the other fact that they are quiet. Several...

Ammo prices going up first of the new year

Apparently there is a shortage of nitrocellulose which is used to make gunpowder. Large quantities are being diverted for the production of larger shells and projectiles for the ongoing wars around the world. Got this from SGAmmo.

**SOLD** WTS: Smith & Wesson .38 Spl. M&P 6 inch 1947 (Price reduction)

This was an impulse buy from earlier this year. An all original, clean transitional M&P with a shiny bore and good timing and lockup. This one is blued with a 6 inch barrel. The grips number to the gun. There is holster wear along both sides of the barrel up front, as well as on the muzzle...

K frame rebound slide spring upgrade

Well, I have this mid-20's S&W 38 special M&P revolver I picked up for a project gun. I disassembled it and clean it. It was dry and cruddy on the inside. I am having a difficult time re-installing the rebound slide and spring. The spring is too stiff. I have a S&W 29-3 that was in a fire and...

Need help to determine correct target grips

I picked up a nice S&W model 14-3 from a Forum member recently. It had the 6 inch barrel, target hammer and target trigger, and no grips. I'm looking to find a nice pair of mid-70's or so target grips, and wanted to make sure I get the correct ones. I believe they will have the " football" cut...

Removing, cleaning and reinstalling the rear sight assy. on a S&W 29=3

I picked up a S&W 29-3 Elmer Keith deluxe revolver that was in a fire and there was smoke damage to the bluing. The fire was not hot enough to melt the red ramp insert on the front sight. I disassembled the 29-3 using a video on YouTube. There was a lot of slimy dirty residue inside the gun. It...
