The one thing I'm short on for reloading this round is bullets.
I'm looking at a deal on some 147gr jacketed BT that I would load using data for 150gr jacketed BT.
These would be shot through a PSA AK and a Bear Creek Arsenal AR-15 upper.
What I'm reading is that the 7.62x39 Russian AK round...
How common is the 8-3/8" barrel?
I just bought one at auction, with fees, shipping, taxes & FFL, I'm sure I overpaid - or "bought it too early" as they say.
But I'm mostly curious about the possibly that this is an uncommon barrel length.
I'm not finding much about 8-2/8" K22s in the SCSW.
From...
I get periodic emails from the BATFE highlighting their prosecution of firearms violations. Basically, their press releases showing what a GREAT job they are doing to try to make us all safer by locking up people violating the gun laws and regulations.
I got one today and the second item in the...
Every once in a while, when shooting full-power loads, my 629-2 cylinder will jump back one chamber to the most recently fired chamber. It never skips or fails to lock up dry firing - only when shooting full-power 44 magnums.
It feels nice and tight and doesn't seem to have excessive endshake...
I picked one of these up from a member here a couple of months ago and just got around to doing some more research on it.
I have the SCSW 3rd edition and seem to have found an anomaly.
The gun has a BPY1319 serial number - which would seem to date it shortly after Dec 1993 (BPK prefix).
But the...
I was looking at one of these and had a question.
Is it normal for the cylinder to "freewheel" with the hammer down - or should the cylinder stop engage the cylinder notches when the hammer is down?
I expected the cylinder to lock up even with the hammer down, but the seller said that it is...
Are the magazines interchangeable? I have done some research and the sources I've read said that "the majority of parts" are interchangeable between the original 1907 and the later 1917 caliber pistols.
BUT, I haven't been able to find any definitive sources that say that the magazines are - or...
I'm looking at one of these at my favorite LGS.
It has a price tag of $329.00 sitting in the case.
I can take it home for $350.00 OTD.
Condition looks very good (sorry no pictures). Though it might need a new cylinder retaining pin ($17.50 on the Uberti web site).
Anybody have one? Shot one...
I read an article today about a fleeing suspect in NYC who mowed down 10 pedestrians trying to get away from the police in a stolen SUV. Fortunately when he crashed the SUV and tried to flee on foot bystanders tackled him and held him down until police arrived to take him into custody.
The thing...
Interesting gun at one of my favorite LGS's
Price seems high to me, but I really don't know much about these older ones, except a couple of places to check for matching SN's
Cool old gun...
I haven't been around much the last 3 months. It is hard even now to post it, but the reason I haven't been around is that we lost our oldest son to suicide on February 7, 2023. He was almost 24. Cinco de Mayo was his birthday.
He had some mental health issues when he was 14 and 15, but he...
You'd think that the negative association would be enough to discourage using the name Soylent for a food product - but then I guess they figure that the up and coming generations aren't literate enough to make the connection...
Anybody know what's the story with this ammo?
They say it is suitable for revolvers, single-shots, bolt actions, and lever actions, but not semi-autos.
It is listed as 36gr high velocity hollow points.
So what is different about it?
Why is it "not recommended" for semi-autos?
Anybody know?
Looked at this one yesterday. Seemed good mechanically. Pretty finish worn, and a pair of Mustang finger-grip stocks instead of the factory stocks.
My cost with taxes and transfer would be right around $510. What do you guys think? Seems a little high for the condition to me.
They had another...
I just replaced the cylinder on a project M&P from the 1930's.
Everything seems to function normally EXCEPT that the trigger doesn't seem to reset on one chamber about 2/3-3/4 of the time.
Cycling the action in DA it will cycle normally on 5 chambers and then the trigger won't reset on the 6th...
I have an old M&P 38 special that is missing the extractor star. It has the "barrel-shaped" ejector rod end (LERK?). NOT the mushroom-head extractor rod knob.
The extractor star has only 1 locating pin, and it has right-hand threads. I've checked Numrich and eBay for a replacement, but the only...
Over the years I have seen many reloaders espouse the opinion that reloading "recipes" are only valid for the exact components listed - with NO substitutions allowed.
This never made sense to me. Logically, it always seemed to me that substitutions of very similar components should be no issue...
The magazines for the beloved Model 52 have been out of production for a couple of decades at least. The limited supply is driving prices to unusually high prices. As of this posting, $200 per magazine seems to be the going price on GunBroker and eBay.
It would be really nice if a quality...
I know it is for a S&W single stack 9mm.
I picked it up at a LGS thinking it was for a 639, but it is one round too short - holds 8 instead of 9.
Other than being 1 round shorter it looks just like the magazine in my 639.
It is stainless with a red follower and black plastic "pinky extension"...
