For some time, I was down to exactly 4 200 gr swc in .45. So today, it was nice in the shop, so I cranked these out. They will all go into .45 auto rim cases over 3.5 gr. Bullseye. I really like that load.
After getting a pound of Red Dot in town yesterday, I took about a 40 minute drive today to get 2 lbs. of Bullseye for 29.00 ea. More than I'm used to paying, but not too bad. Tickled to get it.
Been raining in SW MO seems like every day. Fortunately for me, my club range has not closed, and I ran out today for a little bit. Took the mod 17, some Fed bulk, and a steel plate. Felt great. The sun actually peeked out for about an hour. Good time.
Got maybe 200 452-200 done this rainy evening before the sprue plate screw broke on my mold. Calling Lee in the morning to see if they can help. Or, is this my excuse to buy the 6 cavity mold? I have stimulus money burning a hole in my pocket.....
Quick trip to the range before the expected rain set in today. The 17-2 and the 25-2 I think are officially my favorite revolvers. They always seem to make the trip. Federal WM bulk ammo, and 3.5 gr bullseye w/ 200 gr SWC in auto rim brass. I like all these things.
The weather in SW Missouri has been cruddy forever, it seems. 55 today and sunny. 50 rds. through the 25, and about 150 in the 17. Been buying some Fed. 550 bulk packs at WM. About 2" groups at 15 yds. That's about as good as it gets for me. Man, that sunshine was nice.
After doing several hundred 358-158 on Friday, went ahead and made up about 400 452-200 today. Seated over 5.5 gr. Unique, these shoot great out of my 25-2. I'm OK for a while.
Roads are terrible today in SW Mo., bur could get out to the shop. Came up with about 600 158 gr. SWC. These will all go over 3.5 gr. of Bullseye in 38 spl brass.
Kept me out of the wife's hair.
I consider myself extremely lucky to find this 17-2 at the Tulsa gun show taday. After visiting with the gentleman twice at his table, offered him 600, and he took it. Target trigger and stocks, just enough wear. I am a happy camper.
Anyone care to chime in on the mfg. date. Ser # is K782XXX...
Nice day at the range with a couple of my favorites.
New grips on the 586 from Thailand. They're OK. I think I can make them fit a little better, but 40 bucks shipped.
That sneaky Ruger slipped i at the last second.
Price reduced on this model 042 or 42 in very excellent condition. I inherited this gun from my father about 20 years ago, and it had fired 12 rounds. My youngest grandson has since fired no more than 100 38 wadcutter loads. Now it belongs in someone’s collection.
The bluing is beautiful. There...
About 25 years ago, I had a Mod 25, and really enjoyed it. Until something else came along I liked better.
Imagine my delight to be able to trade into a 25-2 today. A friend of mine wanted my Colt stainless Govt. model more than I did, and we struck a deal.
Ser is S279XXX. I know the grips...
I'd like to have a .500 target hammer installed on my 586 no dash. Anyone know if this is doable. I know it would need to be fitted by a very competent gunsmith, as this revolver has an extremely smooth DA pull, and the SA is equally as great, and I want it to remain as such. I just really like...
I have a 586 no dash I've owned since the 80's, and recently decided I'd like to have the wide .500 target hammer installed. It has the approx 1/4" wide hammer from the factory. Thought I'd post here before writing S&W to see if this wide hammer is available. Thanks.
