Why would someone buy the 325 instead of the 625? The 325 is lighter (at 31 ounces) and costs $200 more. I guess it would be better for concealed carry, but then no N-frame with a 4" barrel is really suited for concealment, so that seems unlikely. So I'm stumped.
Does S&W actually have one?
I starting to seriously doubt it. My 986 literally fell apart after only 100 rounds the first time I took it to the range and had to be sent back to S&W for repair. That repair took about 3 weeks.
Today I went to the range with 30 clips of 9mm ammo all ready to...
Product: Model 625
It's an elegant masterpiece with grips that look like a kindergarten project, but changing grips is easy enough. (Even if I didn't change grips, my big paws would cover the ugly things.) The lowest price I can find ends up being just over $890 with shipping (though I avoid...
Product: Model 625
MSRP is $1,079
What would be a reasonable price to pay in the real world today for this revolver?
It's an "N" frame, correct? Obviously, those hideous grips would have to go.
Do you believe that remanufactured ammo, such as that sold by Freedom Munitions, performs on par with low-cost brands of factory ammo such as Fiocchi, PMC, S&B, Magtech, Blazer, and Armscor?
I must say I have my doubts. If one can afford it is there any reason not to buy factory ammo? The cost...
What do you think about the relative advantages/negatives of the two?
The most obvious negative of the 325 would be $300 additional cost, though it's a very cool looking revolver. And it's 10 ounces lighter. I assume it's an aluminum alloy? How durable is that vs the stainless steel of the...
With an auto you have to wait for it to cycle. Evidently, this is so slow that companies like Glock & Springfield put lightening cuts in the top of their slides on competition models so there's less mass and the slide can cycle faster. Now to a mere mortal like me any semi-auto has fired and...
I'm Karl, a 41-year-old "gun nut" from suburban Milwaukee. I've been shooting for several years now. My gun collection numbers 13 now. Only 3 of them are S&Ws though: a Model 10 I inherited, a 617 4", and a recently purchased 986 that literally fell apart on its first range visit. (I get the...
I have a new 986 which I like quite a bit, though I would like to change the grips to something which covers the back strap (to provide for a longer trigger pull) and I'm not a huge fan of the the finger grooves that Hogue is so exceptionally found of. I'm looking for something to fit my XL...
