    Reloading 5.56 question/Hornady Die

I started reloading my first rifle rounds this past week. Using my Hornady Lock and Load and a new set of Hornady Dies. I am using One shot Hornady lube. My question is, this. This lube does not seem very good. Many cases are getting stuck, hard to resize. In fact I sprayed them all really...

    10MM brass?

I have collected a few hundred round of once fired 10MM brass. I was planning on picking up a 10MM from a friend, he has decided not to sell. He does not reload, and I don't want to reload for him. Anyone local to the St. Louis Area want to pick it up from me? Most of it is Nickel stuff.

    Tragedy at the Range

Man we have all been there, hot brass hits us somewhere, or sticks in the pocket of your shirt. But man what a tragic accident if you don't follow range safety rules on where the muzzle gets pointed. I can not imagine what that Father is going through. Father Accidentally Shoots Teenage Son at...

    Nikon P223

One of the big stores has a sale on this Scope. I'm going to pick one up for my Sport II. I have a couple of questions. Does this come with rings? Or do I need to buy them? If I need to pick them up, which set do you recommend if you have this set up? Thanks Matt

    Sport II first Range visit

Hi guys, I picked up a new Sport II, my first AR-15 platform gun on Monday. Today I took it to the range for it's first outing. Besides a FTF on the second round(first fired round loaded fine, failed to load the next round) I was impressed with the gun and it's performance. I need to make a...

    Sport II Newbie question

I'm considering buying a new M&P 15 Sport II and have a question. I know it has adjustable sights on it. But is it possible to add a scope to this model? If so what does it take to do it? Also what is a "good buy" on a new model? Locally they have them for $599. Thanks in advance. Matt

    Picked up my first 1911

OK so technically it's a 1911, but it's a 7/8 scale model. Browning 1911-380 Black label. It's just like a 1911 or smaller, and wow what a shooter. First 8 at 15 yards I shot with it, stayed in a 1 inch size hole. And it only got better from there. Yeah it's a .380, but it's sweet just...

    Winchester 158gr SWC Copper coated?

I recently bought out an older guy who had some reloading stuff he was looking to get rid of. In this there was a new pack of 500 Winchester SWC 158gr copper coated bullets. I can't find any loading data for this bullet for .38 special or .357 can anyone help point me to a recipe for this? I'd...

    Model 36 date help

I stopped in the LGS this weekend because I wanted to pick out a new bow for hunting season. I ran across this Model 36 and the owner of the shop couldn't tell me much about it's age. I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of it's age and how much it might be worth. Serial number J534355 Nickel...

    Hit the Jackpot?

I went to the local Bass Pro Shop to pick up some hunting stuff, and some stuff I had ordered online. I came home with a bit bigger bill than I anticipated. But I should be set in the powder department for a bit now. As Hickock45 would say "Life is good" Matt

    Bullseye Powder is well named

I've been reloading for 3-4 months now. And once I got done getting "comfortable" doing the basics, I started experimenting to see what affected what. Mainly what powder/charge worked best for my guns in certain Calibers. Currently I am working on finding what .38 special load I like. I found...

    180gr 10MM= .40 S&W 180gr?

I see 10MM and 40 S&W listed together in many places as using the same bullet. Other times they are listed not together. Can I use 180 gr Hornady HAP projectiles labeled as 10MM for the 40S&W loads? As far as I can tell they are identical projectiles. Thanks in advance. Matt

    1972 Sportsman Catalog.

A friend of mine owns a book store. He keeps an eye out for me for books I might like to read. Earlier today he sent me a message that he had a couple of books to look at. I ran over at the end of work. He had a 1972 Markwort Sporting Goods magazine. I found a few pages I'd love to order a few...

How does Barrel length affect velocity?

This week I am purchasing a .40 S&W Carbine with a 17.5" barrel. I reload for my .40 S&W handguns using Berry's plated. Typically they run around 900 FPS out of my M&P40C and my Hi Pointe. Berry's says to keep the bullets below 1250FPS but I cannot find data on anything past a 4" barrel for a...

Had a giggle while at Disney today

I am on vacation, have the family in Florida on vacation. While I was in "Downtown Disney" store today, my son was trying to decide if he wanted a toy pirate pistol, a toy AK47, or another rifle. I checked my email on my phone. There was a reply to a post I follow here on the forum. I clicked...

    700X metering?

Fairly new to reloading still, and I bought some 700X because I wanted to try some while making some 9MM loads and some 40SW loads. I opened it last night and poured it into my Hornady powder loader, and its so course it won't even dispense? It literally stops the dispenser from going up...

    Raccoon trapping?

I've been putting out my game cameras out and putting some corn out in the area I plan to take my son to hunt this fall. It will be our first Deer hunt. I'm hoping it goes better than our Spring Turkey hunt where we came home empty. Due to him being wheel chair bound I'm hoping we can draw some...

300gr Hornady XTP .44 Magnum loads

I've picked up some 300 grain Hornady XTP projectiles, and I'm loading some "fun" rounds. I'm the kind of guy who enjoys some good old fashioned recoil. I've loaded 3 test runs of 6 rounds using HS6 and IMR 4227. I've got 4 different kinds of powder. Titegroup, IMR4227, HS6, and 700X...

    NRA National Sporting Arms Museum

Today after a short family trip to Branson MO. we stopped on the way home at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield MO to pick up a few things I "Needed" and in the process finally toured the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum. If you are in the area I highly suggest a walk through(give yourself an hour...

    Hornady "Get Loaded"!!!

I bought a new Lock and Load system and began reloading not too long ago. I finally filled out the paperwork and sent it in to get my 500 free bullets! I was excited to get 500 free .44 projectiles. I didn't even mind sending them the $14.95 for shipping. Today I received an email telling me...
