Just made purchase of a 98% 4 digit S&W M1917. What I would like to know is, where can I find original ammo, the clipped WW1 type and an original 3 clip ammo pouch? 99% of what I have found is repro. Thanks, Big Larry

Just bought a 98%+ S&W M1917 # 6929. It has the hammer with the grooves like the RM and the very early stocks, which should be pencil numbered? but aren't. Faded away? GHS inspected. Just bought # 505426 and didn't realize the numbers are different than the 38 S&W model. Also has the 3 1/4" bbl. My 3 other Reg. Police are 38 S&W's with 4" bbls. Are the 32's scarcer? How about the short bbls.? Any idea when it was made? Roy is booked up. Thanks, Big Larry
