I finally picked up this elusive 8 inch 25-5. They are certainly less common than a blue. Great shape.

All the 629 I have did not have pristine original finish when I got them, although they are great shape. Do you think it will be worth getting a bead blast to restore them to the original finish? Has anyone here done that before on a stainless? What I have now are 629 that have been polished...

No cut, target diamonds and stainless target hammer and trigger? Stainless in a nickel gun?? Since the gun was originally blue and was nicely renickeled I figure I’m not going to hurt it.

Has anyone ever seen a taper like this on a 27 or a 28 barrel?? Not quite a bull barrel, but close.. I have not seen a taper that was that subtle before. I’m wondering if it was an option or if it’s just the way it came out the factory on this one? I don’t think the barrel has been shortened...

Have you ever bought a gun that is a little worse for the wear with the intention of having it refinished from the get go? I’m bidding on one right now that at least looks like it is in good enough shape that a refinish would bring it back to its former glory. It has little rust spots all over...

Truckman has convinced me without any arm twisting whatsoever that I need a 3.5” 27-2. I guess that means blue and nickel… Welp, there goes another 3500 ballpark into the S&W savings bank. This is all for my wife, you know. After I die.

I recently picked up a 25–5. It has a service trigger in it and I was hoping to be able to drop in a target trigger if I was lucky but not so. I’ll have to take it to my local Smith.. But, in opening up the side plate, I discovered a fix that had been done to the pin that the trigger pivots on...
