    Fun New Toy

Not sure where to put this as there is no training forum, but I bought this fun little laser for my 610 off Amazon. it was $25. It's called the Triton Aimsure and you can have the laser on full time to boresight, or in the dryfire mode, it goes off after you pull the trigger. I just spend 30...

    Screwdrivers

This is the screwdriver that came with the model 586 I purchased in 1986. When did S&W stop giving screwdrivers as part of a new pistol? And why? It seems like a nice touch for a pistol your paying close to a grand. Was this a MBA, bean counter cost saving idea? Just curious.

Correct size drill bit for a replacment front sight

I've seen different sizes on the various forums/videos calling out anywhere from a #54 a #55 or a #56 drill bit to drill out the front sight on a S&W. I purchased a new Dawson Fiber optic front sight for my 617 and will be replacing it when it comes back for Smith. Which is the correct bit to use?

    K Frames_Model 617 vs. M66, are they the same?size

So, the burning question, if I ordered a Holster for a K frame Model 66 in 4" barrel, would my 4" K frame model 617 fit? I would think dimensionally, there the same. Frame size, barrel, cylinder diameter (one bored for 38/357, the other for .22 LR

Range day with the 617, 5-10-25 update, Now I'm impressed.

So I take it out and zero. Here is where the rear sight ended up to get it zered at 15 yds. and its bottomed out trying to get a center aim hold. plus the sight blade wiggles back and forth. and look at the cylinder rachets after less than a few hundred rds. Several are chewed up. Do they...

    Holster compatibility

So here is a question. Would a leather Holster that fits a 4" barreled model 586/686 L frame, also fit a K frame model 617 in 22lr? Galco has a holster I like, but only shows it fitting a model 586...

    Model 617, My story(Update-Happy ending)

One of the reasons I joined this site was to increase my wheel gun knowledge. I purchased a NIB 4" model 617. When I went to pick it up and do my inspection, this is what I found. Wear on the front and rear sight. finish wear where you can see shiny metal pretty prevalent scoring on the...

    New guy reporting In

Greetings all, new to the Forum, looking forward to getting some great information on my new S7W 617 I just ordered. I've been starting to get the revolver itch. Ironically, my first pistol I ever purchased was a 6" model 586 .357 Magnum way back in 1986. I foolishly sold it a few years...
