Some folks just have to tinker with something not meant to be tinkered with. Can't seem to take no for an answer. Strain screw is designed to be fully tightened and not used as a means to adjust trigger pull.
Use whichever color/grade of Scotchbrite pad you prefer, for a final finish I use a mixture of Gun Oil, Comet cleanser and GoJo hand cleaner. Gun Oil is the biggest component followed by GoJo and just a pinch of Comet. The proportions are not critical, apply with a microfiber cloth and spray...
Lamood Big Hats is where to shop for hats that fit if you have a big head. I wear a 7 7/8 and have several Lamood hats. Another good source for a variety of quality hats is Noggintops.
The barrel and all the other parts that are supposed to have serial number marking are marked S1463XX. I have owned two 1950 Target models, this looks identical to them except 5" barrel, it is the satin blued variation. I can text pics to anyone who would be kind enough to post them for me.
Just acquired 1956 vintage Pre-24 with a 5" barrel. How rare is this barrel length ? The gun is pristine with barely a hint of a turn line, any idea as to value ?

While a 4" 629 no dash is my favorite Magnum, I recently picked up a Highway Patrolman 4" 28-2 that has been converted to .44 Magnum using a tapered M/24 4" barrel. I shoot light 3.5gr. & 5.0gr. Bulleye with 200gr. RNFP Cowboy loads in it.
With the barrel roll mark appearing to be off center I believe the barrel to have been shortened. When the front sight was re-attached the pins were left proud so as not to require refinishing.
I had used light grey Scotchbrite on my 629 but never really liked the appearance. A friend recently redid the finish using a mixture that he has developed, it consists of a pinch of Comet, gun oil is the main ingredient and just a dab of Go-Jo hand cleaner applied with a microfiber cloth. I...
