I've acquired "several" K22s, 17s, and an 18. However, my "go to" plinking revolver is a 617 I picked up a few years back for what I thought was an ungodly price of $400.
Darn fun revolver to use to make the cans "dance.'
My boy keeps wondering if I'd like to part with it. Oh, I will, but...

It's a relatively warm day here in central Alaska, -5 here on our ridge. I checked and it's -20 or so down in the flats along the Tanana River.
Oh, that was +20 folks were complaining about.
Heck, that's shirt sleeve weather.......
Yes, we do use American money up here!
No, we don't live in igloos.
And, yes, I get a bit irked as well when some folks in the lesser 48 are unwilling to use the postal service ;;;;
Been burning wood for a couple of weeks now
We've been running aspen through the stove the past couple of weeks. Aspen is considered a trash wood up here - an arboral weed so to speak.
Really too much ash to use during the serious heating season, but it burns quick and hot. Great for heating...
The new model is supposed to be a real improvement on the old saw and it's made in America [or at least assembled here ;-) ]
But for approximately 3 grand I'd like to hear from someone who's actually used the machine. Getting one to the middle of Alaska is not particularly cheap.
I need the...
I'm thinking about the Unisaw to replace my old table saw.
Are there any woodworkers here who have taken the plunge and purchased or extensively used the new unisaw?
I'd be interested in hearing what you think of the saw. The woodworking rags have given it pretty good reviews.
I spent ten years as a photojournalist. Used to buy bulk tri-X by the case: 50 100' cans of 35mm film. Shot a lot of kodachrome as well.
Also worked as a production manager in a photofinishing plant. Processing kodachrome is much different than processing ektachrome. e-6 and c-41 process...
Those of you who appreciate a bit of dark humor might want to take a peek at a book, "Death in the Canyon." [iirc that's the title] My son bought a copy after we climbed out, Probably good that he got it after we finished, although we could have diverted to some interesting sights,
What it...
yes, it was an experience of a lifetime
Had to laugh - my son, who is an Air Force pilot [he's a t-38 instructor right now at Laughlin AFB], called a coupe weeks before I left and asked if I had checked with my doctor before planning the trip!
[actually, I did mention it during my annual...
Well, I made it to and across the Grand Canyon and survived! Had a really great time!
A fair number of forum members posted their canyon experiences or offered equipment/route suggestions.
My son and I originally thought we would simply start at the North Rim and take two or three days to...
a tossup between my grandfather's Winchester 1897 first year gun that was purchased new by his father and the Arisaka that dad brought back from Okinawa.
I picked up a couple of the Springfield receivers for the princely sum of $40 each a few years back. The quality is excellent and they do make good carbines.
Springfield couldn't get the parts because of the Clinton administration's policy on importing USGI parts. Or that's what I was told at...
Airpark,
Good credit card advice. Any Alaskan worth his salt has an Alaskan Airlines card. I run everything I can through the card. Try to have things hit right after the statement closes so I get 40 days use of OPM.
Not only do you get what amounts to an interest free loan, but the...
I am delighted with the outcome.
I doubt that we will know exactly what happened for a long time.
obama deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one.
If only because obama refused to give credit to his predecessor when things worked out well. obama would always simply say "our troops...
Unfortunately the government doesn't even have to run the presses these days. All those trillions that obama injected into the economy came into being as mere electrons after some knob at the Fed hit a button....
