The revolver has a 4" barrel and was issued to the trooper. It has never been fired. I'll charge up my camera batteries and take some pictures.

    Model 66 Indiana State Police

A close friend of mine gave me his model 66 no-dash issued to him when he became a state trooper. The serial is 7K13975 and the sights are also stainless. Could someone please give me the manufacture date and any info on it. I seem to remember there was an internal galling problem with early...

    looking for grips for a 1974 15-3 38spl

Your best bet is to look on EBay, daily. I just bought a set of magna grips for my "S&W model 15 grips" as the search words for $49. Prices for grips are rising quite high. The grips were new.

    Nickel finish care?

I soaked a Colt D.S. Cylinder in Hoppes #9 over a weekend and the nickel was completely gone. I had to have it re-nickeled. The ammonia is what attacks the copper under the nickel.

    Fast S&W custom service

I sent my blued 2" M-15 to the S&W custom shop for a polishing and nickel plating and also a re-casehardening of trigger and hammer. On June 30, 2014 my revolver was received at the custom shop. The technician I talked to said it would take 16 months till the job was done. On September 26, 2014...

    M15 refinishing

I have a M15 with 2" barrel .38 spl serial nbr K964069 (1970) with an original blue finish. I would like to have it nickel plated like S & W does. I thought that I read Smith was not servicing "K" models anymore. Is this true? If Smith would nickel it should that be my first choice ? If not...

Adding To The .22LR Thread, What was Your First .22 Hangun?

My 1949 Iver Johnson Sealed 8. Had to send it back to factory for new cylinder when I dry fired it repeatedly (hammer firing pin struck cylinder without a case being in chamber). My dad bought it for me at York Arms in Memphis, TN. At the time it was illegal to sell handguns in Tennessee, but...

    K-22 screwdriver question.

I believe the screwdriver which is correct for your revolver is the aluminum handled one with horizontal flutes.

Model 29 marked as factory nickel but doesn't letter that way.

It's possible that it was nickeled and marked as you indicated to fake being nickel.

Is this Model 1917 one of the rare ones?

The modifications on your S&W mdl 1917 seriously lowered it's value. I would guess it's worth maybe 20% of it's original value - ($200-$250).

    Help dating a mod 36?

I was referring to the target hole diameter which is printed from a size .357" bullet, which is the size of a .38 special.

    Help dating a mod 36?

I would estimate somewhere between $300 - $400. It's a working gun. With box, papers, etc. in unfired, unturned condition it would be your call whether or not to shoot it. I would enjoy it for what it was intended for - making .357 holes.

My 28-2 Refinish job by S&W - WOW!

I think it makes a difference if the old imperfect finish came from your handling or not. I had a Winchester 20 gauge model 12 that was well worn from many quail hunts with my Dad. I sent it back to Winchester for a reblue and although it looks nice, all those memories of the two of us are gone...
