This may no longer be an issue, but from what I’ve read it was t too uncommon for early two piece barrels to fail and launch down range. Haven’t heard of this in a long time. Probably fixed.

I have my Dad’s 39A that was the first gun I ever shot. He bought it new in the early 1950’s. It is pre Golden. Looks like the bottom picture. Will definitely shoot with any bolt gun I ever shot.

Tried a 25-06. Would now go to .257 Roberts. With newer powders it can be pushed to near 25-06 velocity. It so does recoil. Depends a lot on what you want to shoot. Whitetail or Moose, or grizzly?

I seem to be slowly recovering from my latest bout of respiratory issues. Going in for a surgical procedure tomorrow that will hopefully help lung function. Anyway, still looking to continue eating and living indoors. So, keep the cards and letters coming.

Another consideration is that should you repaint this car, it will take a serious hit in valuation. Ok to paint old cars but not new ones. There are too many 15-20 year old Corvettes around that have lived their lives stored in a garage and are still very much new looking. Doing a cheap respray...
