Hello all, The just received a Colt factory letter for my 6" four digit Python that shipped in 1959. It shipped to Robert S. Frielich in NYC. I've searched his name and he is referred to as "the dean of Colt Gunsmiths" but I can't find much else. Can anyone shed more light on who the guy was...

    Late Vintage Nox VCI Paper

FWIW, I have a heavy barrel K38 Masterpiece that shipped April 14th, 1954. This revolver came complete including the original Nox-Rust Vapor Wrapper. There is no reference to Daubert chemical. It's marked NOX RUST Chemical Corp. Chicago 8, Illinois. I hope this helps, Randy

    I like my Smiths.....

I was at one of my local shops last week when I noticed that he also had a brand new 3" 686+ Talo gun. I asked to look at it and the fit and finish looked to be first rate. I then checked the carry up. The cylinder stop didn't engage any of the seven cylinder notches with the hammer all the way...

It ain't no S&W , But it is the Mouse that roared.

I think those little NAA Pugs are just the coolest. I was looking for a Pug myself about a month or so ago when I came across this Sidewinder for sale locally. I couldn't pass it up. I still want a Pug though. Randy

    My first S&W revolver: 27-2 4"

I had a chance to buy a very nice 4" 27-2 about ten years ago. I passed on it and regretted it ever since. I did run across a 4" 27-3 that I did buy. I sold that one to a friend soon after I bought it. It just didn't scratch that itch. Randy

    Model 17-6 Four Inch Barrel

Here's my 17-6 heavy barrel four inch. This is the only one I've seen for sale locally. I bought this one over ten years ago. It came to me LNIB and all original. I did get this one lettered hoping that the letter would tell me how many 17-6 four inchers shipped with the heavy barrel. It didn't...

    1958 Browning A5 12 Light Question

Hello all, I've always liked these Brownings. I found one at a local shop with the vented rib. It's from 1958 and the bluing is a solid 98%. The wood is very nice and hasn't been cut. The only thing that gives me pause is the forend has a light coat of added varnish to it. It's not in the...

    Smith Model 10-5 no logo

I've spent a lot of time looking at S&W revolvers under a 10x loupe. I'm the type that just cannot enjoy a refinished gun, so for what its worth, from the pictures you posted, I really think your revolver is unmolested and shipped from the factory just as it is now. Randy
