    What Happened To This Hammer?

Quite possibly your hammer needs to be centered with shim washers on both sides of the hammer! Brownells have them. Do not install too many, they will bind the hammer movement!

    Mainspring adjustment screw

No one mentioned the trigger return spring! This spring has just about the same amount of effect on the trigger pull as the main spring. When making a change in the trigger pull you must make changes in both springs! Installing a "spring kit" is the best method of reducing the trigger pull...

    S&W Outdoorsman

For those of us that do not follow the older guns, are we talking about a K22 Outdoorsman or a 38/44 Outdoorsman? IMHO, any replacement grips will not be numbered to this gun which will decrease the value.

1960's M41, hoping the enablers will help me here

I believe everyone's estimate of the value of the Olympic Weight set is low! The last set I seen sold was for $500.00! Rumor has it the model 41 is being dropped from the line of models being manufactured. Watch the prices go up!

Three 45acp Cases Split On Me Yesterday

For those that try to milk every reload out of their brass, annealing is your answer! Annealing the brass realigns the crystalline structure of the brass, making it softer. This lessens the work hardening process, which is the cause of your cracking! To me, straight walled pistol...

    Model 33-1 4"

The -1 on the all J frames indicates built on the J frame, except on the model 36-1. On the 36-1 it indicates a 3" heavy barrel model.

Postwar .38 Terrier & .38 Regulation Police grip frames?

I believe the relieved backstrap was used up to the introduction of the SB mod 33 in 1949. They also dropped the "Regulation Police" stamping at that time. I cannot recall ever seeing a Terrier with a flat main spring. Joe

This may or may not have already been done

Fvernic, welcome aboard sir! Please ask questions on this forum, as we all learn from those questions! Sometimes it's new info about our own collections, sometimes it's info we learned long ago but had forgot about, and sometimes it's about guns we never knew existed! The day is lost that...

Just won a .38 Regulation Police. No idea about these. Anything special?

NO, never, it won't happen! The upper part of the case will expand, and possibly split, but the case at the base is solid and it will not expand. Save yourself a lot of headaches and BUY some new brass and dies! I fire form a couple wildcat cartridges for a couple guns and when you are...

Just won a .38 Regulation Police. No idea about these. Anything special?

May I suggest the grips are NOT original to this gun! I have never seen a serial number stamped on the bottom of any grips. The numbered grips were always stamped or written in pencil on the inside of the grip panel!

Picked up a 4 Screw M53 Today- Updated, project done!

Steelslaver, I have an original print out for the Kay-Chuk from Lakeville Arms Co. In it they state to "trim Hornet brass by .050" for best results in velocity tests using 45 or 50gr. Sisk bullets(which are no longer made)! I used Hornady 35 gr. Vmax bullets for my tests with good results...

Here is Winchesters answer to the Remington Jet. The 6" on the left is a Harvey K-Chuk original but the 8 3/8" newer 17 I had built. The cartridge is known as the .224 Harvey K- Chukker, designed by Jim Harvey and Don Cassavant

New to me boxed 629 no dash 4”

I believe your gun was shipped with a presentation case. The plain-Jane blue box your gun is pictured in is the type used for a lot of the 629s. It appears the label was removed from the cardboard shipping container and applied to the blue box. This is what the package looked like. Here...

Starburst Box For My 22/32 Kitgun

The sun burst boxes were used with the mid-post war J frame guns. There are 3 different boarders on the top of these boxes. The last two of 196 guns are 4" Regulation Police Targets models produced in 1957 on some pre war parts.
