    Ruger Standard Auto .22

I love a Ruger Standard .22! Got my first one at age 17, a 6" version. Cost $67.50 in 1977 as I remember, a Smith & Wesson .22 revolver was around $150, getting the Ruger was a "No Brainer" considering I was only making $2.50 an hour. Own two Standards today, both 4", a Fiftieth Anniversary...

New Ruger/Marlin 1894 .357 caliber lever rifle, shooting impressions....

While at Rural King several weeks ago, I saw a new Marlin 1894 lever rifle in .357 caliber, priced right around $900. Since they have an enabling layaway policy, I put a few bucks down on it, then picked it up a few weeks later. Quality seems on par with an earlier .357 Marlin 1894 I bought...

I drank the CZ Kool-aid this month, rifle wise anyway.

I am really digging my CZ 457 Lux in .22 Magnum. It has made me jump in waist deep into .22 Magnum shooting. I pick up two boxes of CCI .22 Magnum ammo a month from Walmart, the 125 round pack that comes in a milk carton, that's 250 rounds. One I shoot up, the other goes into storage in case of...

CZ 527 bolt action carbine in 7.62X 39: Some Serious Carbine love! (pics)...

I heard a lot online about the wood stocks cracking on the CZ 527 rifles, so I bought a used CZ composite stock on Gun Broker, and sidelined the wood stock. Cost me about $200 several years ago. Not as pretty as the wood stock, but functional and utilitarian. This is the same stock that was...

Strap vs. Thumb Break on Conventional Autoloaders

I ordered an El Paso Saddlery "Threepersons" holster for my Springfield Armory SA-35 Hi-Power clone with a retention strap. I like it so much I have ordered another for my 1911...... The Threepersons style is perfect for my world, most days carried in the field on my property, occasionally in...

THE BEST 22LR RIFLE I HAVE EVER SHOT IN MY LIFE!

I am a big CZ .22 rifle fan. I have had this CZ 452 "Trainer" since 2009, have put many thousands of rounds through it and it still looks like new. Here is a steel rabbit target shot at 100 yards, prone position, five rounds on target: With it's newer CZ 457 .22 Magnum brother, this one is...

    Ignoring Hi-Power

I bought a Girsan Hi-Power a few months ago, and like it a lot. Shoots well in my hands, reliable, and won't break the bank. Shown with a reproduction German Military holster, $29 shipped from World War Supply:

    Glock G44?

I have a Glock 44 I bought a year or so ago, it has been a reliable and fun shooter. I keep it in my range bag and shoot it each time I go shooting, got about 1000 rounds through it so far. I like it so much I bought another one for my Nephew and his kids to shoot, together we compete on...

Hogue "Double Diamond" Cocabola grips for 1911.....

I've been shooting a Rock Island 1911 in 9MM caliber for a year or so now, gotten kind of fond of it, so figured it was time to upgrade the grips. Came with a set of boring black plastic ones: Ordered a set of Hogue "Cocabolo" wood grips in the Double Diamond pattern from Midway USA, cost...

Tisas G.I. 1911 A1, "United States Property" marked....

I bought a Tisas G.I. 1911 .45 a couple of years ago, a close reproduction of a World War II 1911. Plastic grips, G.I. sights, a Cerakote finish that looks like parkerizing. A good gun that performed well, but for some reason when Tisas came out with a more accurate reproduction of a WWII 1911...

Springfield Armory SA 35 Hi Power

If you can get an SA-35 for $500 out the door, go for it! You will be saving at least $200 over buying a new one.... A few pics of mine, which I am quite pleased with, even after paying full price! With an El Paso Saddlery "Threepersons" holster:

    Colt Cobra-good revolver or not?

I've had a later model Cobra, like 1972 or so, for several years now. Has the shrouded ejector rod, which I like better than the early models with no shroud. It shoots good, fairly accurate for a 2" revolver, sights are dead on. I'd buy another if they weren't asking crazy money like most folks...

CZ 457 "Lux", .22 Magnum caliber, elegant magnum shooter!

One more photo to add, shots fired from the sitting position at 100 yards. Smaller target is 4" in diameter, shots fired slowly and carefully. The larger 8" target was fired "Rapid Fire".... I'm digging this rifle!

CZ 457 "Lux", .22 Magnum caliber, elegant magnum shooter!

I have owned a Ruger Single Six Convertible for some time now, .22 Long Rifle cylinder and .22 Magnum cylinder. Until recently, I hadn't shot the .22 Magnum cylinder to see what kind of performance I might get. .22 Magnum ammo has been in short supply, and in my mind, expensive. .22 Magnum ammo...
