    Joining The SW collectors Association

Welcome to the Association. I’m not sure what our Administrator Jim King’s current work load is like but I’m confident he’ll be in touch soon. You will find us a great group of fellow collectors and please think about getting to our annual Symposium ( next one is Sept. 9-13, 2026 in...

Holsters Makers: Hermann H. Heiser Archive

Here is the relevant catalog cut, probably a 1930’s edition as the holster shows the older snap buttons. As always you have a great eye for detail, Marcello. It is the lining, as you suspected. Regards,

    Arvo Ojala rig

That’s a fine looking rig. Arvo Ojala pronounced as O-jaw-la. I didn’t believe that until Lee straightened me out, something he has to do from time to time. Here’s a 4” K frame LE holster Mr. Ojala made. Regards,

    Just Noticed Something

Of course I went to my photos to check this out and I couldn’t disprove your theory. Here’s an extreme example of the length Myres went to in finishing that area. Regards,

    Garage Sale Drought

My next door neighbor continues to regularly amaze me. He came over one day with an Ames short Artillery sword from a local garage sale. Colt .45 auto, S&W K-38, Remington rolling block, rifles, shotguns, ammo-all found at garage sales. He trades in high end watches for a living and is a very...

Holsters Makers: Hermann H. Heiser Archive

I think NMT signifies New Match Target as in 2nd and 3rd series Colt Woodsman Match Target. Here’s an example, the thumb rest on the plastic grip usually makes a groove inside the holster as shown. Regards,

The nicest Lawrence holster I’ve ever owned

Lawrence would do anything you wanted if they could. I know I have some brass and some nickel buckles but doubt any are plated. I’ll take a look in some pre-war catalogs and see if any mention is made of upgraded buckles. Regards,

    Winchester 70's - Pre 64

I don’t have any photos unfortunately but the Model 70 was always my idea of the classic American rifle. A good friend and advanced Winchester collector sheds examples as he upgrades so I finally got a pre-64 standard .30-06 rifle, nothing special but an original unmessed with example. Regards,

    Cherry Jam

Oxo cherry pitter. We freeze cherries when they go down to $2.99 a pound at Publix. Oatmeal, yogurt and the occasional cherry crisp.

Pablo Picasso carried a Lawrence holster

Here’s a photo of Pablo Picasso with a hat, revolver and holster given to him by Gary Cooper. That’s a Lawrence model 120 holster designed by Elmer Keith although it’s pretty similar to a Tom Threepersons holster. I’m trying to think of a current artist who might be photographed with a revolver...

Holsters Makers: Hermann H. Heiser Archive

Westward and Buffalo Brand were 2 Heiser made budget lines of holsters. I have several examples of Buffalo Brand but I think just 1 Westward brand holster, it’s the 3rd one from the left in the middle row. Regards,

    John Taffin

John wrote a very positive review of our book Holstory, we were glad he enjoyed it. I also had the chance to meet him at the Boise Symposium, he was a good friend and booster to all shooters and gun owners. RIP, John. Respectfully,

Consorting with the enemy (hey, its better than no consorting at all!) S&W herecy!

I’ve sold most of my Colts but have a few I like too much to get rid of. One is a New Service .45 ACP, another is a .32 Officers Model with some interesting target additions and there’s a very nice early Police Positive .32. Can’t have too many .32’s… Regards,

Sold/Withdrawn Lawrence lined laced 6 1/2” N frame 1/2 flap holster, (Sold)Heiser laced double loop Colt SAA holster(Sold) FS

A George Lawrence model 100LSC 1/2 flap holster for a S&W 6 1/2” N frame target sighted revolver. The size code 534 is for a Model 1955 Target or a model 29, I’ve shown it with a model 29 and a model 27 with both Target and magna grips. It will fit any 6” or 6 1/2” large frame post-war Smith &...

Bear in the house? Meh. Get a Pomeranian.

That looks like a can of bear spray on the window sill, superfluous with the Beast around. Regards,
