OK, I read the entire thread and about halfway through I'm thinking "How does it shoot?" I tend to agree with SASFixer, Accuracy is the real measure of how good the load is performing.

As stated by others you can shoot 357 and 38 spl rounds in your M27. A Model 19 or 66 (K frame) may be a good choice for the wife. A little smaller frame than the N frame M27. Shoot 38 spl rounds for practice, 38 spl +P for home defense...
