I did have a 5-screw K-38 Masterpiece (K140802 that shipped in May 1952). It came to me configured like your gun in an oversized box with this label... Edited to add: I don't have the gun or the box any more. But looking at the photo of the inside bottom of the box, it could not have...

One of the things that I love about S&W Revolvers is that it only takes one screw to remove and replace a set of grips. I play musical grips with my guns regularly. Factory grips can be nice (there are also a lot of ugly factory grips out there), but there are a also lot of nice aftermarket...

Great guns!!! From the records that I used to keep, there are not many K-38 Masterpiece LERKs. I did see another early one sell recently on GB. I was a bidder on it as it was two SN adjacent to my K-38 Masterpiece LERK, but several someones wanted it more than me. I hope that it ended up...

Jeff: I love the "double clamshell" on the cylinder and the barrel. If it were Italian contract engraved, it makes sense that there are multiple guns with a very similar pattern. Thanks for sharing.

Karl: Great gun!!! I do not recall seeing another nickel 6.5" 27-2. The closest I come is my very first purchased 27-2, a 6.5" shooter that left the factory blue, but slowly migrating to mostly silver, as the bluing is rubbed off over the years. It left the factory in Aug 1965, about a year...
