A "S&W hand gun dating sticky" I'd like to see that is prominently posted and easy to use - please!

Almost always when I need to look up a Serial Number, it's because I am looking at a probable, new to me, gun. At these times I almost never have access to my books. I always have access to my phone.

Just won a .38 Regulation Police. No idea about these. Anything special?

And to be sure , the bullet diameter is different also. The .38 S&W being .361 vice the .357 of the 38 Special.

Need some help with J frame stock ID

I find that I need to buy a set of RB J frame stocks for my ‘91 vintage model 60. To be sure there are a lot of them out there but I want them to be correct in appearance. I assume I need the type with the stainless steel stock circles but I don’t know what the checkering pattern looks like...

    A Scarce Victory Variation

So if the British didn’t own them, why weren’t they just returned to the US? Why the commercial proofs, sometimes modifications and sale of them?

    A Scarce Victory Variation

My BSR has British proofs on it which shows it left the country, but it does not have any Broad Arrows or any unit issue marks.

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

Well I only own 2 revolvers from the post safety era. One is a 442 which is a delight to carry but hard for me to shoot well. I don’t hate it though. The other is a 6 1/2” 629 Classic. I thought I would love it but it is a disappointment. I hate that it has a round butt. I hate the rubber...

Inherited model 60-7. Looking for DOB please

Ok so I fit got back home and have access to my books. My 2nd and 3rd edition of the S&W Catalog show the BFY prefix as Jan 1991. List as “Jan 1991 BFW 3337 - BFY 8122. Strangely my 4th Edition doesn’t have this information. I have not gotten the 5th edition yet. I pulled the Hogues off and...

Inherited model 60-7. Looking for DOB please

I just kind of lucked into this. I didn’t know SIL was into guns and her family didn’t know what to do with it. They just wanted it gone. Good deal for me. I have been on the lookout for a 60 for some years but they were always kinda pricey
