I don't believe it's possible to remove it accidentally since removal of the disconnect lever would require replacing the spring that tensions it with a different one. It might be possible that, depending on which APEX kit you purchased, the parts may have been incompatible with a magazine...
I'm no expert on Kimber firearms by any means, but I'm pretty sure you got yourself a frankengun. I believe "Ten II" refers to a series of 1911's Kimber discontinued a while back which had double stacked magazines and polymer frames to accommodate the extra width of the mags. Yours appears to...

J/K but seriously, when that gun was available new, they commonly sold for about 225 nib. The ammo may be worth 100 to 150 depending on brand and type so I would say 300 to 350 MAY be fair
Used very little, looks like new and comes with all of the original adapters.

I finally got around to trying to order mine today and it's no longer showing up on OMB's website. I know it was there last week because I kept checking up on it. The only reason I waited so long is because I wanted to sell my mosquito first. I suspect they probably took it off the site...
I believe the steel cases wear out your extractor and ejector faster. It's not worth it to save 2.5 cents a round. If it were a bigger difference in price then I wouldn't mind using it anyway.
WWB = UMC = Fed Champ = Blazer Brass
Personally, I haven't found any major differences. They're all a little dirty, but I have never experienced any reliability issues with any of them. I prefer to shoot Winchester Ranger NATO FMJ though. It's not much more expensive when you order online...
When the white dot from my front sight fell off a while back, I decided to make my own high viz photoluminescent paint. worked fantastic. much brighter than the commercially available stuff and I sold most of what I had left over so it didn't really cost me anything but the time spent on it.
In general terms a "defect in material or craftsmanship" does not refer to something that normally gets worn out over time and/or with use and/or from abuse. The OP stated that the grips "dried out from age." Sounds like normal wear and tear to me.
