    Save Bad Magazines?

This is what I do. If the feed lips are damaged there’s no fixing it, but if the spring has weakened Wolff sells replacement springs that are probably batter than what came it the mag originally.

    1986 Beretta 92F question

If you put a lot of rounds through it, you’ll want to replace the locking block. Installing a “D” Spring will lighten the DA trigger pull without affecting reliability. (You’ll need the American style lanyard loop pin as the Italian 92’s use a roll pin.)

    The Beretta M9

I bought a Taurus PT92 a few years ago out of curiosity. I didn’t need it as I have several Berettas but I just wanted to see the difference. Some of the parts, like the hammer are MIM but it’s a good pistol. I just wish it took M9 mags (& I’m not interested in modifying any pistol mags, I’ve...

Got a call from Homeland Security

I got rid of our landline, scam calls were all I ever got on it anyway. I don’t answer any calls on my cell phone I don’t recognize. I “report and delete” the scam text messages.

    The Beretta M9

I don’t believe Evan Marshall & Ed Sanow have gotten the credit they deserve. At least their findings were based on actual shootings.

Revolver vs. Semi Auto for CCW

I’ve been carrying a S&W J Frame, either CCW or Backup Weapon all my adult life. I started out with a M36, then a M649, a M940 and finally a M442-2. I’ll dance with the girl what brung me…

    New 442 No-Lock

I own a lot of pistols & revolvers, many of them suitable for CCW and my absolute favorite is a M442-2 (No lock). I swear, if you practice with a J frame you’re well armed. I’ve been packing one J frame or another for almost 50 years (& I still have them alll).

Color matters! When it comes to EDC / CCW leather belts, holsters and pouches - learned my lessons!

BTW, my EDC is a black M442-2, I have other revolvers & pistols I could carry but every one of them is either blued or black. That’s as important as the black holsters they ride in.

Color matters! When it comes to EDC / CCW leather belts, holsters and pouches - learned my lessons!

I’ve always preferred black leather gear for the reasons you’ve stated. I always wear blue jeans these days with a dark, usually black pocket tee shirt long enough to cover my OWB holster Years ago I cross-trained with our department CID for a couple weeks and one of the Detectives commented...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

You know they do make a low profile disassembly lever for 92’s, right?

What's your favorite color for stocks on various revolver finishes?

I prefer blued steel with wood grips. On the few stainless revolvers I own I prefer black grips, either rubber or preferably G-10.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

Barrel length seemed to be a regional thing back in the day. When I lived down south 4” bbl was the norm, I moved to the Pacific Northwest and 6” bbl was common (& I was issued an used M28-2 6” that I purchased when we went to auto pistols).

    New Marlin 1894

FWIW, the first centerfire rifle I ever purchased (after my Ruger 10/22) was a Marlin 1894 around 1977 (on sale, $119 + tax). I like the fact there’s no crossbolt safety but the wood on that forend is pretty rough. All my Marlin 1894’s made since then are better, but Marlin was evidently going...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

One of my guys, who was issued an used 92F had the trigger spring break while we were qualifying at the range. I installed Wolff trigger springs in both my M9’s several years ago (one less thing to worry about). I own several Beretta 92’s in varying configurations and most of them have D...

    Things Change

My Dad was in the Korean War and I went to Korea in 1973, twenty years after the ceasefire and it was like a third world country. When I got off the Northwest Orient airliner at Osan AB there was a ROKAF F-86 parked off the runway as well as a halftrack. (I flew home a couple years later on...
