The best production double action revolver?

the 686 4", but only because it was pioneered by the model 19!

    M&P vs Beretta 92 Compact

I have really tried to like the Berettas, but as a lefty, i have found it hard to adjust to the the external action components, which (for me, with my grip) seem to rub against my thumbs. I don't think this would be an issue for a righty, or perhaps other leftys. But the M&P, on the other...

New member, looking for first Revolver

I have a 686 4" and it shoots great for me. Just personally think the 686, in 4 or 6 inch, gives you the most flexibility and is a gun you will hold on to over the long haul. If you get a used one, be aware of when they were subject to a recall, and look for the "M" stamp....

    First AR15 - Mistake?

Gosh that is annoying. If returning isn't what you want to do, I would be inclined to leave it alone....

M&P 9c has become my favorite gun

I like my revolvers. BUT, the 9c is sure a great gun. My son got one too and really likes it. So, I added a 45c....

Short list semiautos for NY'ers? -- preparing for future

My Walther PPS came with 6, 7, and 8 round magazines. I like the 7 rounder the best.

Opinions on refinishing a part gun

I would first try the Oxpho blue suggested above, without removing any of the existing blue (since it sounds like it doesn't have corrosion or pitting issues). I have done that on a couple of guns where there were worn areas and have been happy with the results. Cheap, simple, if it works...

    45c how'd I do?

Came across a 45c in the used case of the LGS yesterday. LNIB with three mags, all the papers, and S&W night sights. Standard (not CA or MA) trigger, no internal lock, no thumb safety, but with mag safety. Manufactured Feb 2010. Price was 450--Had been looking for awhile so I took it. Okay...

    M&P9 vs 92FS question

I had a 92 for awhile and really wanted to like it, but ended up trading it away. It did not seem particularly accurate for me, at least in the vertical plane. The external trigger bar on the right side was quite annoying (though I am a lefty and my thumb tended to ride up against it)...

    9c vs 40c

    9c vs 40c

I am very happy with my 9c. But I find myself looking at the 40c and thinking about trading in my 9c for it and picking up a 9mm barrel. Has anyone compared the two for accuracy/comfort/shootability? Thank you!

My first try at stock checkering, now my second...........

Congrats to you, looks like you are learning fast. I've gotten some inexpensive hand checkering tools, but have only been brave enough to re-cut old, worn, checkering--no big expense on old pieces, and easy to follow in the old tracks. One day I might try to do some checkering from scratch!

Found under the washer at grandpa's

I had one like that checked out by a gunsmith and he gave mine the clear to fire fire with commercially available 38 S&W (not "special"). You should do likewise. I've enjoyed mine. As to "shape" all we can comment on here is superficial and cosmetic. You might go over yours with 4-O steel...

I think my wife is on to me!!

FWIW, I bought my M&P 9c, new, from an retired police officer. He said his wife had one, she loved it, it was as accurate as his full size, and was among the most reliable he had. My experience has been like his. Just wanted you to have some more "ammunition" when you came clean!

Ready for new 9mm semiauto ...had an M&P 9L

I had a ruger sr9 and it didn't work out for me; I have large hands and tended to pull it off center. Traded it for a 9c which worked out great for me.
