    Your "COOLEST" Knife?

My father was a boat coxswain in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He was issued this knife and brought it home. My older brother had it and gave it to me recently. I was even able to find a replacement 1943 sheath for it. The original was in pretty bad shape.

    Buying on-line

Most of the guns I've bought in over a decade have been off of Gun Broker. Just check the seller's feedback. If they are a business and most are, and have great reviews, your pretty safe. Some will even give you an inspection period. Ask questions, study the photos... I've found and bought some...

Have you ever bid on a unseen group of gun items and when you get them, this happened?

Closest thing to that, I bought a stainless Uberti Remington C&B replica off of a gun forum once, "sight unseen" for a hundred bucks. When I got it the gun was practically new. A couple of the chambers were out of spec. I picked up a new cylinder for $65. Issue fixed and it's a keeper.

Would You Tell Someone If You Noticed Them Printing.

I had an anti-gun lady approach me in a store. She must have seen my firearm print when I reached for an item. She immediately said, "are you carrying a firearm?" I smiled and replied, "No mam, that's my colostomy bag and it's been leaking today, don't get to close." Conversation ended.

    Grandpas S&W .38

Yeah, money was tight. Colts in the 70s were around $50-$75 dollars higher than S&Ws. I started with S&Ws but did eventually get a Python. Love my S&Ws and Colts. I once worked for an old Sheriff who was a Colt only guy. He used to say "I'd rather live next door to a man who owns a Colt as to...

    Grandpas S&W .38

I started my career as a Deputy Sheriff in the mid-70s. Most departments in that era (except for the larger ones) required officers to furnish their own firearms. Guidelines were also pretty standard, Colt or S&W, .38 or 357, with a four inch barrel for patrol. You wound up with officers...

    Model 60-4

Picked up my Model 60 - 4 a few years back. Got it in 98-99% condition at a local gun store. Traded a Glock 357 and $100 for it. I figure I have around $600 in it. Interesting story on it, as I was completing the paperwork, the clerk removed it from the counter and said they couldn't sell it as...

    Need Some S&W Tech Advice

Update Replacement barrel from Numrich came in. It had been on a gun before, but the bluing wear matched my gun perfectly. Bore was perfect. Joe Daniels at Royal Range in Belview, TN did the swap. Joe was formerly a gunsmith with Guns and Ammo in Nashville. Was hired by Metro PD as their...

    Need Some S&W Tech Advice

"Are you sure it's a "defect"? It may just be built-up fouling or a minor pit. A pit's not good (sign of poor maintenance), but it likely won't hurt a thing." This is not a pit from rust. Looks like the metal broke away. I have never seen anything like it. Its definitely a hole. Almost like it...

    Need Some S&W Tech Advice

Numrich had 3 in stock, One they said looked close to new. I bought it. We will see. If it is as nice as the said that's good, worst, I'll have to have the gun refinished to match everything.

    Need Some S&W Tech Advice

Didn't expect it to be done without a cost involved. Gun was practically mint in the box when I bought it. OK its one of my "Grail Guns." I just apparently missed the barrel defect. I just can't see going through the hoopla of mailing a gun when S&W can't even tell me if they have the...

    Need Some S&W Tech Advice

My model 36-1 has what appears to be a defect in the barrel. About 1/2 inch from the muzzle there is a hole in the barrel (on the inside) This looks like a manufacturing defect. Anyway, I want to replace the three inch heavy barrel. I called S&W and was first told they could replace the...

    Model 649

Got a question, a short while back I purchased a Model 649 S&W. It came with the original box and accessories. The gun looked mint. Very pristine gun in every aspect. Just noticed the number on the yoke does not match the serial number on the frame. Below the numbers 19149 are a sideways S and...

M36-8 3inch heavy barrel thoughts, do you have one? + My 3 inch-ers

Model 36-1 I got basically the same gun, M 36-1, 3 inch heavy barrel, RB. It's my primary carry gun. I really like the 3 inch barrel. Longer sight radius and seems more balanced. Excellent in handling recoil for follow up shots.

    Manufacture Date Model 649

Thank You. I knew it was early, didn't know when. This was an estate gun. Seen most of its time in a safe. It had the original box and cleaning rod/brush.

    Opinel Pocketknives

Bought my first about 25 years ago. Still have it, a carbon steel #6. I also picked up an Opinel INOX Olive Wood #8 a few years back which is probably my favorite working knife. I prefer the size of the #8. They will take and hold a scary edge.
