    44 special load, Mag primers

I have been shooting my 44 mag with LPM primers with Unique. The minimum listed load for 240 grn jacketed in Lyman's book was plenty hot at 1100 fps. I backed it up a little, now they shoot 950fps, just right for plinking.

    Normal wear and tear?? ??

I took the screws out of the side plate... they were not loose, and I could not easily remove the side plate, so I put the screws back in will let it be for now. I am afraid if I take the side plate off then replace it, the condition may worsen after I put it back on.

    Normal wear and tear?? ??

Thanks for all your input. I will get a properly fitting screwdriver and make sure the screws and side plate are secured properly!! I took a closer look at the screws with a magnifying glass and to my surprise they have indeed been removed at one time. I wonder if the factory could have...

    Normal wear and tear?? ??

Here is my 357 Mag S&W686. I have owned it for about 12 or 13 years and have probably shot it no more that 300 rounds through it. The previous owner put a box of ammo through it and sold it to me for $350. It is a real nice piece. It is the only pistol I ever owned and I love it. Now take...

357 mag and 200grn Cast Perfomance

ArhAngel, you are just about right on. I finally got ahold of the guys at Cast Performance. For the 200 grn bullet, they suggested starting with 11 grains of AA#9, 10 grains of LilGun, or 10 Grains of WW296. I tried out the AA#9 last nite and it shot fine. No pressure problems. I will work...

357 mag and 200grn Cast Perfomance

Yes AzShooter, good info there. Makes me rethink using the AA#9, although I need to chronograph my current 180grn loads. Aside from buying a 44 mag, What I want to do is get the same velocities out of the 200 grain CastPerformance bullets.

357 mag and 200grn Cast Perfomance

Thank you all for your input. The new box of 200 grainers did not come with load data. The old box of 180's did. Sounds llike I need to get Lil'Gun or the 296. I have some AA#9 that I would like to use... It worked great with the 180's, but so far I have not been able to find data on it...

357 mag and 200grn Cast Perfomance

I am using a 357mag for bear hunting. It is a little light, but it is a 686 with an 8 3/8" barrel and I love that gun. I don't want to spend the money on a 44 mag. I have been using Cast Performance 180 grainer's with AA#9 and am getting good results, but I need stout, so I bought a box of...
