I had the same thing happen to me with a full stock .62 caliber contemporary Flintlock Hawken rifle.
Broke right at the Rist, the week point of the stock. The sender should have removed the barrel
from the stock prior to shipping to lessen the chance of that happening, and I should have ask him...

Funny, I've gone the other way, at 64- I work outside all day too. (construction) but have acclimated to the heat. I 'would take 90+ all day long compared to 12 degrees with a wind chill.
I have been slowly thinning out my 88-year-old mothers' things. Sadley at this
point in her life she doesn't even notice all the things I've gotten rid of. The
only things left are the things she can still see. The garage and attic stuff are all
pretty much gone.
I believe in the future large metro areas (non-moon) will require small nuke plants to provide stable delivery. AI, data centers, factories,
electric vehicles (it their still around) will require large amounts of power only nuke energy can provide.
It took me 7 years to find a 41 Long Colt barrel for an Army Special. The I found two
in a matter of three weeks, both on GunBroker. Stay in the hunt and maybe get Lucky.

I grew up reading papers and enjoy them. Eventually my
local paper will go bust and my WSJ which the local paper delivers
will be history.
As someone who spends all day wearing a hard hat in very hot weather, I would welcome
the car show walk as a distraction. You can acclimate to weather if you spend lots of time
out in it.
