Hi, it's been a while since I posted anything. Been busy with my other toys. I have a 1917 that was in pieces when I got it from my dad's gun collection. I found a barrel that had a slight bulge and had it fitted by a gunsmith. The issue is the hand, in single action mode the cylinder works...

Very cool, I can relate. When my father passed away, my stepmom gave me all his rifles and pistols. She knew how important it was to me. When my dad and I had nothing to talk about we could always talk about guns. In a way he is always around :) Enjoy

Hi, need advise on fixing the hand on a 1937 brazilan contract. Good shooter, but I get pieces of lead sprayed at me if I shoot DA. If I shoot single, and rotate the cylinder just a little I'm good. Thanks, Stef

Thanks Jack Flash I will continue to work the action by dry firing. I have a few dummy rounds I can use. :D Will keep you posted. And no I have not seen any ads for picking up a brazilian of a diffrent sort. :eek:

Range report Well, I got the 17 back on friday. The Smith did not cut down the barrel like I thought he was going to. He said to shoot in like it is and if the accuracy was bad we would cut the barrel down. I took it out today and the acurracy was great!! small groups at 3 yds, pie plate and...

Great advise, I think will do the finish myself. Now with that said, Do I take the gun to a smith and have them take it apart, refinish it and take it back to them to reassembly?

Hi, I found this 38-44 in my dad's gun parts box. I cleaned it up as best I could. As you can see the bluing is gone, there are major pits, but it still locks up tight, and the barrel is in good shape. Should I send it to Ford's to have it refinished or just keep it that way?
