Well I did it! Yep, I replaced the one (model 17) that I never should have sold. I traded for a 617 6" 10 shot over the weekend. Now i've got a great plinker/target shooter again that will outlast me. I appreciate everyones input and opinions and now I hope to break it in on Turkey Day. Thanks!

I bought a 042 approx 15 to 18 years ago. Ended up trading it for a 638 3 or 4 years ago. My mistake, 638's are pretty common, 042's are rare and pretty pricey. Didn't realize that when I traded. Finish on 042 is far superior to current blue guns. I sure wish I had it back.

.38 S&W SPL +P JACKETED on the barrel. I've shot +P's thru it, carry them in it, but mostly shoot 158gr RN rainier with 3.5 gr bullseye reloads in it for practice. It weighs almost the same as the Ruger LCP 380, but I alternate between them for pocket carry.
