    S&W 6906, Glocks and P320's for Carry

The guy on Lucky Gunner had a similar take on this a few years ago. When I carry my Shield, the safety is on. My Glock has a striker control device. My 649 requires neither.

Revolver vs. Semi Auto for CCW

Sorry I wasn't clear. "Blading off" in this context means stepping back with one foot into a more stable stance. I practiced a martial art for a long time and this is sort of automatic for me. I stepped back with the strong side foot in these two events to prevent my "problem" from fouling my...

Revolver vs. Semi Auto for CCW

Thank you both "Be Fast" and "326Mod10" for your comments. In some ways you both provide "food for thought". It's nice to have opinions from people with a law enforcement background. Most of the time I live and work on a farm and can carry a very effective handgun. A lot of the time it's a...

    Quality Control

That's pretty bad QC. I must point out that I bought some S&Ws from the 1980s that were equally bad along with terrible Rugers and Colts. I have typed the following on here a dozen times: If you own a high quality good shooting gun, never sell it even if you don't shoot it much. Your...

    3-slot pancake holster for S&W 686

I find the Simply Rugged Sourdough to be my best option for carry a 686 sized revolver while working on the farm. It keeps the gun out of the way and keeps it from flopping around. I have tried other holsters and have been less than impressed.

How much does yours weigh? I just weighed mine!

I have not weighed my Shield Plus but I know it's not much larger than my 649 "no dash". That and 5 extra rounds is nice but the real difference is the excellent night sights on the Shield. I have a 640 Pro also. It is much larger and heavier than the Shield and it's sights don't work for me as...

Do ANY Shields shoot to POA from factory?

I really like revolvers a lot and have nine snubbies but I find that I am carrying the Shield Plus about all the time. A big reason is the snubbies are mostly older and the sights are pretty bad. In contrast the Shield has excellent fixed sights. I have a 640 Pro but it's a lot bigger than the...

    Rubber grips for M60

Exactly! One fine shooting pint size revolver. I will never sell mine.

    Rubber grips for M60

The Speigel grips that came on some 3" M60s are pretty nice.

Spyderco knives - did a bit of research this morning and learned quite a bit!

I am a big Spyderco fan and own way too many. In fact I am going to start thinning the herd after hunting season. I live on and maintain a 192 acre farm. A knife is pretty much a necessity and used frequently. During the summer, I carry a Tasman Salt that works great in the garden, cutting rope...

    Inflation and Deflation; Guns

I haven't seen any evidence of nice older S&Ws going down in price around here. I see plenty of evidence of price increases for said revolvers.

Do ANY Shields shoot to POA from factory?

I have two Shield Plus pistols. Both shoot "to the sights" with 115 grain standard pressure ammo. Both have also been totally reliable. It's nice to have two pistols ready to go right out of the box. I am past the stage where tinkering with guns to get them "right" is something to look forward to.

    Browning B92 vs Rossi R92.

There may come a day when owning a .357 carbine with a matching revolver and store of reloading supplies will be mighty useful. Imagine a different election outcome in your area.

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

I am very glad that I grew up in a time when it was pretty easy to find a place to hunt or shoot. Now it's seems to be one giant string of sub divisions with no forest to play in. There's no way I would trade my memories for what they are going to have.

    Browning B92 vs Rossi R92.

This has been a very useful and informative thread. I like .357 carbine/revolver combinations a lot. We own a farm in the very rural south where these firearms are pretty handy. I have a Ruger M77/357 and a Marlin 1894. These make great deer rifles on the farm. I may have to pickup a Rossi in .357.

    S&W 649, price

I have two 649 "no dashes". It took almost 10 years to find them. IMHO opinion, the 649 is the best pocket pistol ever designed. $600 would not even temp me to sell one of mine. If you really want one, I would be getting while the getting was good.

It is better off the beaten path.

Wonderful thread. I really enjoyed it. I need to clarify one point. I was born and have lived in the deep south for 72 years and remain grateful for that to this day. Amazingly I despise sweet tea! I do like collard greens after the first frost. On another subject, I hear and read "ya'll" all...
