    PMC .380 JHP

Had some PMC 90 gr HPs. Didn't care for them. Velocity no higher than other brands of FMJ and unlikely to expand or penetrate. 95 gr FMJ is the way to go in the .380. I have chronographed most all brands and Remington is a bit faster than any other brand. Winchester FP is the slowest and I had...

    Reloading the 357

Titegroup load data is very close to Bullseye. I have used it in great mid range loads in the .357. .357 brass, Winchester mag primer, 5.6 grs of Titegroup, 158 gr cast Magma style SWC, chronos at just over 1050 fps in my 4" 27-2 with ES of only about 15 fps. Hard to beat.

    Model 10-6 rough birthdate please

I think a clean taper barreled model would bring a bit more money. I'd say $450 is a fair price for the 10-6 pictured.

Saw a 34-1 2” at Local Shop Today

Realize that buying a 2" 34 NIB for $899 + tax and any fees for a shooter is paying a premium for the box and papers and the minute you shoot it it becomes a used gun. If you decide to sell it you will find that those who tell you to spend your money aren't going to give you your money back. Are...

How not to serve a warrant

Several years ago a way too young pretty female was living with me. Unfortunately she had a substance abuse problem. One day a whole convoy of three squad cars showed up at my rural home to serve an arrest warrant for her. The guy banging on my front door was ready for battle, full vest , long...

Saw a 34-1 2” at Local Shop Today

I have one I bought at a consignment auction several years ago for $350. Nice revolver , a fun plinker, not a target revolver. Very ammo sensitive. In my opinion $899 is way too much. Maybe $650 tops.

According to Brian Pearce the std and +P marked .38 spl cases are the same except for the marking.

.38 Special Ammo Velocity Comparisons: Historical vs. Modern

Contrary to what some folks like to say the standard .38 spl 158 gr RN lead has never been loaded to +P pressures or velocity.

    Maintenance Products Tests...

Interesting. Several years ago I tested several oils for corrosion resistance by submerging uncoated nails in half filled sealed small bottles with nails coated with the oils. Break Free was the clear winner. After two years in the water I tired of waiting and removed the nails coated with Break...

.380 ACP: Flat-Point FMJ vs JHP

I use Remington 95 gr FMJ RN ammo in my Ruger LCP because it chronos a bit faster than other brands. Winchester 95 gr FN FMJ is the slowest domestic brand of 95 gr FMJ I have ever chronographed. HPs out of the LCP aren't going to expand or penetrate and may not feed.

Caliber wars (or stirring the pot ;) )

A modern .380 like the Glock 42 is easier to carry than a J frame, especially a steel one. An extra magazine is easy to carry and .380 95 gr FMJ will completely penetrate an upper torso so what more do you need?

What Have I Done to My Glock?

If you buy an older used Glock and want it "upgraded", send it to Glock and they will do it for free and replace your old magazines with new ones.

    S&W 4" blue 15-4 Price

My 18-4 came from the factory with a TT and TH. Don't know about the 15-4 in question but if it has them it should add a bit to the price.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

Harv 24 my comment about the M9 being the most tested was about the US Military's tests in finding a replacement for the 1911, not in torture testing round counts. But it's hard to know for sure about round counts. Beretta says that the M9 has a mean of 30,000 rounds between malfunctions.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

The Beretta M9 has been called the most tested pistol ever made and has stood the test of time in the battle field. It is one of the very best 9mm handguns ever made. And... the 9mm is a better military ctg than the old slow and heavy .45 acp despite the old nonsense about "if it don't start...

Question on this 1917 Modified to 3.5BBL & Hard Chromed

Looks more like a $350 gun to me than a $550 gun but it's your money. I'd rather have a well used original 1917 than that thing.
