Maybe I should go back and buy the other 5 boxes he had cause I doubt he will stock them anymore and the next closest place is about 100 miles. He doesn't do very much CAS stuff. And like I said the place that does is a fur piece.

    Vintage 4th Change

Major, I have been stumbling around here for the last two days and I finally found your post. Sounds like you are going to have a good time with your Dads ole gun. I would look around if their are any gunstores close to you. I bought two boxes of 32/20s for 28.00 ea. Course he gave me a deal on...

    Grandfathers Service Revolver

Thanks for the info guys. It is a 4" barrel (I read the ruler twice this time). Their doesn't seem to be any indication of a hole for a lanyard ring, however the S is separated from the rest of the serial no. The ejector rod does not look like it has been refinished

    A accidental Aquistion

Hey thanks enfield for the extra info. I am going to go with the majority advice and put a front sight on her and leave the barrel as is. It was kind of what I was thinking anyway and I don't want to ruin the story by changing to much now.

Thanks Major, Very good idea to come here great bunch of people. I usually hunt for the old nonworking guns because I can get them cheap and I love working on them. Its a win-win kind of deal. if I can make them work they are usually shooters. This one was just a total surprise.

    A accidental Aquistion

Thanks for the help on the date Steve. Chris I think I will just put a sight on it and enjoy plinking with it. The guy that I bought the trunk from was under the impression that there were a few old books and some clothes in the trunk, nothing of value, that is why he didn't force the lock. And...

    A accidental Aquistion

Thanks Hey, I appreciate all the imput. I did take the ser.no. off the butt and all the numbers match. I tried the gun out and she shoots great out to 10 yards, pretty much right to POA. From the look of the stuff in the trunk she had not been in the light of day for a long time. I may just do...

    A accidental Aquistion

Would first like to say hello as I am new to the forum. A while back I bought an old trunk at a flea market that didn't have a key and was well and truly locked. It was in great shape and not wanting to tear anything up I left it locked until I could get back home and go thru my skeleton key...

    Howdy from South Alabama

Just wanted to say hello. I have been lurking around reading up on a lot of interesting history and finally decided to jump in. I am a 25 year hobby gunsmith who loves to take old non-working guns and make them run again. I just recently applied for my FFL so that I can do more gunsmithing...
