    Heavy Clothing Stops .38 Wadcutter!

Load something lightly enough and it will not penetrate. Anecdotal reports are inherently flawed. Korea vets claimed (anecdotally) that the winter clothing worn by chi-coms stopped M1 carbine rounds, a round with 967 foot pounds of muzzle energy at 1990 fps. God bless them for their service...

    Oh those C and D S&W Model 10’s

I like the square butt model 10 almost as much, almost, as the model 15 two inch.

    What's for dinner?

Cast iron chicken fajitas with white flour tortillas on the Coleman stove. Camping till the frost sets in.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

I passed up a HK P7M8 for the same reason. Didn’t want to spend the $200. Best deal I ever missed.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

Was sworn in in 1984. Issue weapon was the S&W Model 67, blue rear sight and a red front insert. Pachmayr grips. Issued ammo was CCI 125 grain JHP +P. Issue leather was a Jordan Border Patrol style holster and drop boxes. You had to buy your own speed loaders and security holster if you...

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

Every model k frame with the new lock profile. I can’t stand looking at them. A total negative with me.

    the Box craze and accessories

I have saved the packaging and tools from every handgun that I purchased new. My retirement gift to myself years ago was a pristine two inch model 15 complete with the original box and paperwork but it was missing the tools. I obtained period appropriate replacement tools and put them in the...

    Woods Carry 357 Search

I had an SP101 with the 4.2 inch barrel that I carried in a kydex chest rig. It was my hiking carry rig. Passed the gun on to our youngest daughter. NowI’m thinking of buying another. Or a 3 inch J frame.

TWO INSTANCES IN 2 WEEKS TO BACK UP MY RED DOT OPINION ON A EDC/CCW GUN

I prefer red dots on carbines and iron sights on handguns. I’ve played with dots on handguns and I find they slow me down. On long arms they make me faster on target. They’re an excellent technology and this is just my preference.

    Protests close to home

My intention in starting this thread was to point out that no matter how much we plan to avoid conflict you have to be prepared for any eventuality. Some moron will bring trouble to paradise.

    Protests close to home

I’ve made posts in the past on why we chose to live in a rural area to enhance our personal safety. I carry concealed every day, even where I feel completely safe. Based on the fine folks the wife and I recently met while waiting on line to pick up our renewed carry permits, lots of people...

Just curious if anyone here who partcipated in the spare magazine thread has rethought it after LA riots.

I always carry a reload. Even if it’s just a belt slide with six rounds or a single magazine.

How do you actually enjoy a Magnum caliber revolver?

I enjoyed mastering full power .357 and .44 Magnum handguns years ago. I found practice and custom grips were essential, at least for me. Usually I fire specials in my magnums these days. My Model 29 four inch still wears Jordan Trooper stocks.

    Low capacity but probably enough

Environment, mindset, tactics, training. I believe carrying a handgun increases personal safety; IF, you approach your daily activities behaving like you aren’t armed. Be aware of your surroundings, evaluate everything, choose where not to go, be low profile. In my daily life, I’m...

Ok - need to fix an accident cleaning my 617

Once upon a time I was cleaning my Remington 1100 in the loft of our cabin when the magazine spring retaining ring launched itself into space. Spent way too long in fruitless searching before I ordered a replacement from Brownells. Then I found it.
