    DO NOT ASK sign

We have “Caution: Firearms in Use” signs posted on our property. They have been pretty effective in keeping trespassers out. I am known as the guy who “shoots guns all the time”.

To answer the original question “is there a practical reason to transition from .38 to .357 in the context of EDC in suburban America” NO

Ruger Redhawk replacing S&W 25-5 (.45s and family)

“ My target goal for wilderness carry is 300 grains at 1K FPS from a 4". bbl.” This can be accomplished with “tier 2” loads (23k psi) which the M-25 can handle. In Brian Pearce’s Handloader article he had loads slightly higher in velocity using Longshot, Power Pistol, and TCM powder. My only...

    Model 645 confusion

That’s the best looking 645 I have ever seen. Amazing how much better it looks without the squared trigger guard. I may have to get up my nerve and get out the files. Dan

    .41 Magnum with Accurate #9, H110

I have loaded a lot of H110/WW296, 2400, and AA#9 in my 41’s. While all 3 work very well, I have settled on #9 as my “go to”. I think you will like it. Dan

    Woods Carry 357 Search

I didn’t think so Mike. My Son had one and I was surprised at how controllable it was. He carried it for his BUG when he was a police officer. For me personally this question is answered with a 4” Security Six. 😉 Dan

Will Pete Rose be voted into the Baseball HOF anytime soon now..... ?

+1 on Roger Maris. The only thing he did wrong was hit more HR’s in a season than Mantle did, and pissed off the New York media. I have to admit I was glad Pete never got in because he was such a jerk. Most players who get in the HOF seem humbled by the selection. Don’t recall any other player...

My latest Colt SAA, and in .44 Special of course

In the Brian Pearce “Standard Loads” June 2017 Handloader Pet Loads for the 44 Special with a 240 XTP he listed 6.5 gr. Unique @ 835 FPS and 7.0 gr @ 866. These loads are all at or below 15,500 psi. I agree with not using jacketed bullets at that level unless that’s all you have. I never shot...

Gun for extended camping in NW states

Many suggestions, and none bad really. Were I in your position I would choose a 1911. Easy to carry and close to indestructible. 10mm is ok, but I would prefer 45 acp. I would have it loaded with 250 gr +p ammo from Lost River. Sounds like an amazing trip. .45 ACP +P 250 Grn Hard Cast Flat...
