    10mm Single Action

A single action 3rd Gen like the 945 in 10mm. It'd also be cool if they could get 10 in the magazine instead of 9. I think this is pure fantasy.

    Article opinion

The Dark Side of S&W I read and believed his website before I knew any better, before I lived in a place that allowed ownership of firearms. He was one of the first online. When I moved from Chicago and could actually own and shoot firearms, I treated his website like gospel. I followed several...

    Group Dissapointment

Top heavy? I am exactly the opposite. I find Glocks to be annoyingly top heavy (thats the only place they have any metal). I'd have to say 3rd Gen Smiths have just about perfect feel, better than 1911s, too, especially if you get a Hogue Grip. There is no exposed metal backstrap or grip...

    10mm to 40 S&W conversion for 3rd Gens

Why is so hard to make a 40 S&W barrel? If they are already making 10mm, all the have to do is not ream out the chamber as deeply, right? .357 Sig would be very, very cool, too. A fifty barrel minimum sounds pretty high, but not impossible. Maybe attempt it again? Solicit at other boards?

    10mm to 40 S&W conversion for 3rd Gens

Is there a safe and sensible way to convert a 10mm 3rd Gen to a 40 S&W by exchanging the barrel and the recoil spring? Are magazines interchangeable?

    Adjustable Rear Sight for 1076

Those are nice. Does anybody have a picture of one installed on a 3rd Gen?

question 10 mm ammo double tap

One of the arguable problems with 10mm is that it has much variation in power level. Normal loads go from 175-180 grain bullets going from subsonic speeds all the way to 1350 FPS! To think a single recoil spring weight is ideal for all power level does not seem logical. Wolff makes a recoil...

    Adjustable Rear Sight for 1076

Is there an adjustable rear sight available for the 1076? I really like the Ken Sight DS, which has the Novak profile (that matches the 1076's factory sight), but it is adjustable, allowing me to change my windage and especially elevation. But it doesn't seem to work for the 1076. With 10mm...

    Price Check on S&W 745

Were these pistols known for unusual accuracy, or has this been just my experience. Also, does the odd barrel bushing have something to do with it?

    10mm Auto For Bear Defense

Having never had to deal with any animal personally like a bear, I will relay a story about my wife's uncle Earl: He lived in the hills in back country Eastern Tennessee. He was uneducated and a drunk. He also possessed unassailable comfidence, probably because his body had adapted to being in...

    10 m.m. Question, S&W compared to a CZ or EAA Witness-P ?

I would like to relay a sad TZ-75 story. After years of looking for one in 10mm (the ultimate), I finally found one and purchased it for $415 with two magazines. Bought two more mags from EAA which was my first experience with being assaulted by service that makes the IRS looks stalwart by...

    NEW S&W MANUFACTURING PROCESS

I hope this is true, and I hope Houlton doesn't become the forgotten red-headed corporate step child. Thanks for the info!

S&W phasing out metal auto 3rd gens?

Pretty much. Or they are penny-wise dollar foolish. I guess it was better than a knife or a .25 Auto. Notice how it took a LONG time for it to kill the would-be armed robber, and I understand more than one shot was taken. Could have become ugly if the guy was tougher. Good thing for him it...

S&W phasing out metal auto 3rd gens?

In response to the entire "it's what people want so you can't blame the company for giving them what they want" line of thinking... The human experience is about EDUCATION: knowing what is worth knowing. Otherwise we are clever apes. Children would probably eat snow-cones exclusively if allowed...

S&W phasing out metal auto 3rd gens?

Actually my keyboard is anodized aluminum and my mousepad is rubberized fabric. There are obviously some good applications for plastic. Romex is a good example, or PVC tubing, certain modern products that pretty much cannot be made of anything besides plastic like certain medical devices...

S&W phasing out metal auto 3rd gens?

Plastic pistol concept. Translation: using inferior materials to make an inferior tool that will need to be replaced at regular intervals ensuring continued profit. Often materials define a civilization. First came the stone age. Stone tools could not hold and edge, were brittle, and difficult...

    Polishing the feed ramp

Yes, sometimes forums are useless. You ask a simple question and get everybody's axe they have ground into into a razor blade. Some people love to show off how rich they think they are with condescension of any non-professional work (Dremel tools are the reason I don't buy used guns. If you...

    S&W 3rd gen 45 Auto pic thread

Palmetto sharpshooter, where can one get one of those nice squishy rubber grips with the S&W logo for a third gen? Will that fit on a 10xx series? Did the .45 come with that spurred hammer? Where is MMC? Some great pictures.

    10 mm advice please

I've heard this from some people and I think it is cause of the more sharply raked and wider grip and relatively low bore axis, but I found the G20 I tried to be very difficult to control, especially if the magazine was less than half full. G29s are so little. Lots of power in a little package...

    10 mm advice please

I needed patience too, three years of patience to be exact. Reloading can cure some of the ills of high 10mm prices. The way I look at it, double-tapping with a 9mm delivers just a tad more energy to the target than one 10mm. I suspect that one good shot is better than two poor shots, too...
