Because when someone posts a photo of the gun they just acquired at a gun show, someone could say, "Hey, that's my revolver! It was stolen from me several years ago!" In addition to the reasons already mentioned.

Making the box is a lot of work. Oops, sorry 'bout that. :)

I will be making them. I'm working on a coffin in pine. I made this oak box from material I had on hand. When I went to buy more I couldn't find oak in the same dimensions I used for this one. So, any future boxes will be pine.

It will also hold a full-size 1911.

OK, well, I'm an idiot. It is for an N frame. So I can't use it. Thanks BTW, I edited the original post; It came into my possession. It belongs to a friend and I'm supposed to list it for sale. If it had been for a K frame I would have "acquired" it for myself and maybe placed it on a 4"...
