Found a cheap single point adapter

Ha, I was looking at that exact one and almost pulled the trigger, then I thought 'why not check eBay first'. :)

Found a cheap single point adapter

After fitting it, I noticed that there is a minimal amount of travel at the top of the "buffer tube", opposite of where it clamps. This was expected given the design of both the "buffer tube" and adapter, but the amount of travel is probably only 1mm. I don't believe this would slide off, and...

Found a cheap single point adapter

Just got this in the mail today, got it on eBay for $13 with free shipping. It looks similar to ones that Midwest Industries sells. Feels very lightweight as if its made from aluminum. Fits very snug and sturdy. I'll post a couple pics later today when I get a chance. This may be the best...

    Soak cleaning the 15-22

I remember reading an article in one of my gun mags, and this article was about a dedicated .22lr build. The author/police officer said he usually soaks his uppers in mineral spirits to clean them. I'll try to find the article for reference.

Bloomberg - stricter gun control, poses with . . .

. . . one of ours! Caught this on USA Today app on my phone. Sure enough, holding an M&P 15-22 with the front sight on backwards. Kind of difficult to take this seriously when the example used is a rimfire firearm, huh? Not to say a .22lr isn't deadly, but it's like using a Toyota Tercel as...

    Fab Defense Mag Well Grip

It may take some getting used to (if you were to train yourself to hold that way), but I agree it just isn't comfortable for me. I was never taught how to hold a rifle, I just picked it up and through observation of others found my particular grip/stance/style through my own trial and error...

    Fab Defense Mag Well Grip

To be back on topic here, from a physics standpoint it doesn't make sense to hold a rifle with a close grip and expect good accuracy. The further the grip distance, the more accurate it could be. But man is it comfy lol What gets me is seeing guys demo the Magpul AFG. They basically have...

    Fab Defense Mag Well Grip

I assumed correctly, then. I knew what you were getting at :)

    Fab Defense Mag Well Grip

Special Ops soldiers are not just "some soldier", but I get your point. ;)

    Fab Defense Mag Well Grip

I've thought the same, but for me its fairly comfortable. It may not be that bad of a hold if this guy typically holds his rifles this way (former Air Force PJ and Army Ranger Wil Willis) Don't mean to argue, just bringing some evidence to the table.

15-22p upper will it fit on rifle lower?

I'd be cautious about just taking a picture, but remember, they have to prove that picture was taken in the US ;) Just don't take it with your nice geo-tagged and time-stamped smartphone :D. Take a polaroid of it and scan it in lol

    Reliability Update: 8500 rounds (update)

Very nice write-up. Before I bought my 15-22, I was renting one at my local range. It looked just as dirty as yours, and not once did I have an issue any times I rented it. I have personally put over 1300 rounds through it in two weeks time, and have not seen any evidence of cleaning. Hard...

    aluminum 15-22?

I think my main concern with aluminum vs polymer is that polymer is very rigid, where as aluminum can bend if you torque it enough, i.e. drop your weapon. Also polymer doesn't rust ;) I would support aluminum reinforcements or even an aluminum rail at the least. I think if I wanted a metal...

If anyone is near Springfield, MO

The Cabelas in KC usually carries a lot of Magpul. Last time I was in they had even had three 15-22 mags - I bought 2 of them (why only 2 I don't know :()

Anybody put a real buffer tube on their 15-22?

With all the crazy "mods" we can do to these rifles, I wonder if anyone out there has lopped off the polymer buffer tube and installed a mil-spec (or commercial) buffer tube. Not something I think I would take on personally, but I bet it's possible.

    M&P 15-22 Picture Thread

Well I think I'm done with my 15-22 "build", save for a barrel shroud. Most of you will notice a lot of HK furniture on it. ;) I love the looks of the HK 416-22 over the 15-22, but no way would I buy the Umarex paper weight, so I imported some Umarex 416-22 parts I got on the cheap.

Wow . . . that flamed maple is AMAZING on that rifle.

    Trimmed down the handguard today

I agree. I'm thinking about threading it then attaching a barrel shroud; give it the silenced SBR look ;)

    Trimmed down the handguard today

I've always thought the handguard on the 15-22 was just a little too long for my taste. I think a carbine length handguard (without the A2 front sight post) may be [i]too[/i short, but decided to just trim it down to just a hair under 9". I'm really fond of the HK416/MR556 look, so used that...

    Pics of your other .22's

Here is my Winchester 67-22 Short that has was originally owned by my grandfather, passed to my father, to me, and one day my son :) When my dad was about 12 (think '69), he decided to drill out the back of the stock so it could "hold extra bullets". Good thing he never slammed the stock...
