Your opinion on Bodyguard 2.0 vs LCP Max?

I had a BG 2.0. Loved the ergos but Issues with feeding and ejection all ammo types made give it up. Also didn't care for the stiff loading mags (10 was hard and could never fit 12 in the 12), relatively hard to rack and super wide rear sight. When it ran I never could shoot it that well. I now...

    New 638 forcing cone machining

Who told you that was NIB and never shot? Looks like lead build up where the back of the barrel extension was cut, (a dull hack saw would make a cleaner cut than that) and as mentioned above, there appears to be a lot of copper build up in that barrel.

    Proper red ramp sight picture

Right or wrong, I seem to get the best results with red ramp front sights by properly aligning the sights and using the very top of red ramp for point of impact which is similar to sight picture #3. This is easier and more repeatable to me than trying to identify the black top of the ramped...

Can anyone tell me about this...?

Post this with the video in the "S&W Smithing" sub-forum and I'll bet you get an answer as to what is wrong and possibly a fix that could save it a trip back to the factory. Some good knowledge there. Not as busy as the general forums so may take a little longer for a response.

    686 Cylinder; Fluted or Unfluted

Hawg, What front sight did you put on the 3-5-7 686? Size/Height? I have the same gun and was looking to put a FO sight on it. Have been going back and forth between an XS big dot and the fiber optic.

How do you actually enjoy a Magnum caliber revolver?

For me, shooting .357 magnum fired through a K, L or N frame with a 3" or longer barrel is fun. I love listening to the ping and watching steel plates move at 25 yds. Shooting .44 magnum through an N frame with 4" or longer barrel and watching steel targets dance is BIG fun! Cost and a touch of...

    My Stainless Shooters

Not on revolvers. I use Hoppes gun oil or Weapon Shield oil sparingly. When I had a stainless Colt 1911 I would use Tetra Gun Grease after I had a galling issue with it.

    My Stainless Shooters

Love my stainless revolvers. Every one of these is a shooter, which is why they all wear S&W OEM rubber grips. I know...boring. But I've tried numerous aftermarket grips (wood and rubber) and always come back to these as I just shoot better with them. All were purchased new (including the 1989...

    Model 10-7 Nickel Snub Questions

I have a chance to purchase a Model 10-7 factory nickel plated snub with box and original grips. Looks like a square butt? I was told it's 1978 vintage and lady owned. Asking Price is $549, but on consignment and will probably take a little less. Looks to be shot very little to me and lock up...

To Polish or Not to Polish?

I wouldn't go high mirror polish, but nothing wrong with a little cleanup and shine with some Flitz and a t-shirt. I like to still be able to see the factory satin brush marks without the dull out of the box gray. But that's me. I went too far once on a 686 and was able to bring back the the...

    New Smith or Vintage Smith?

For collecting, cool factor and occasional range fun - vintage. For shooting and carry - new. Vintage anything, guns or cars (I'm into both) have pretty much proved to me that the good old days are great for a "back in the day" nostalgia fix, but require a good deal more attention and...

Unbelievable quality control fail - 3 for 3

Not all. I just got rid of a new Bodyguard 2.0 .380 due to multiple FTF and FTE issues. No way could I trust it for carry. Back to my 642PC and M60 revolvers.

Unbelievable quality control fail - 3 for 3

I handled 5 new revolvers yesterday. Four 686 and one 586. I passed on all five. The 586 had a trigger and action that literally crunched when the trigger was pulled in D/A and had a serious initial hitch when pressing the trigger in S/A. The 686s all had issues like a B/C gap you could drive a...
