    Prayers for you, Rusty.

    Model 10-5 round butt 2"

The numbers on the yoke (and on your gun, the frame in the yoke cut) are assembly numbers only. Your serial # only appears on the bottom of the grip portion of the frame. ("Crane"? Must be a Colt guy....)

    PDW's

I have a couple of AR-based 5.56 and 300 BLK oversized "pistols" that I built up from lowers I picked up in Black Friday deals a few years ago. I also have a pair of 20 ga. "firearms", one of which sits behind the bedroom door hanging on one of those padded "Y" hooks they make for hanging up...

    Trigger Shoe on Model 28

I sold a coworker a Model 49 many years ago, and he promptly put a trigger shoe on it because J-frame triggers were "uncomfortable." Well, his choice of holsters - a Bianchi 9R, the spring-loaded side-opening shoulder holster that points upward - proved to be his downfall when it grabbed that...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

When my vision deteriorates, I get a new glasses prescription!

What gun are you on the lookout for?

Looks great! The one I want is the 19 with a 3" barrel and fixed sights, made for a foreign police contract. For reference it looks like he Model 65" Ladysmith, which I probably should have put on my list.

    LEO Marked S&W Semi-Autos

I'm late to this party, but I've got some department guns to add. I had no Idea that I had so many .... A Model 67 that was sold to me by Robertson Trading Post as an L.A. County Sheriff turn-in. They had quite a few when I picked up this one. A Model 6906 with "LCSO-391" stamped in one side of...

    New to me 36-1

It is a nice one. The 36-1 is the heavy barrel 3". The standard barrel 3" is just a plain ol' 36.

    640-1 price check

S&W Fan, that's an excellent price in today's market. I hope you've picked it up by now!

Another pair of scratched up Smiths

Wow, Eddie, those sure are purdy! I'm not an engraving aficionado - are those factory? Very, very nice!

    Chicago Police Commemorative M66

One other thing: those stocks are common to any S&W gun that has a logo of some sort on the sideplate. They're only "unusual" in the sense that those are the only instances that the factory supplied them. I've got a set like that I got from a guy who traded them to me because he didn't like the...

    Chicago Police Commemorative M66

We've had threads before discussing commemoratives, and as I recall, the consensus is they're really only more valuable to folks that collect commemoratives, and most of the time appeal primarily to the folks who collect a particular subset, such as police revolvers, or federal agency revolvers...

    Why magna grips?

Well, you've got to remember that the grip frame on these revolvers represents but one step in the evolution of gun grips from the time of the first pistols. Most of the time, what you see on any given vintage is simply a "better" grip shape than a previous firearm. In my opinion, the S&W frame...

What gun are you on the lookout for?

Well.... Not in any particular order, I could go for a 3" Model 66, a 2 1/2" Model 10, a fixed-sight Model 19, and a 696. A lesser choice (only because I have 3 others already) is a blued Model 15, 2" in very good to excellent condition.

    My nickel 36-1

You know, I just realized that describes me as well. I avoided nickel guns like the plague - the old wives' tales about the nickel being a fragile finish made me think they weren't worth the trouble. But after retiring, and getting my first more or less by accident, I discovered they're actually...

    Dirty Harry Holster Home Made

Well, it's our loss, then. Enjoy the hobby - I made holsters for several years in the late 1970s-early 1980s. It was far better than a mental health therapist, and cheaper, too!(y)

    9mm Snub-nose

What is this ""need" you speak of? Need should never be placed in the same sentence as "gun." Really, it's simply "because you can." And velocity chasers ought to like the higher fps of a 9mm from a 2" barrel than a .38 from the same length. There's also the old "same ammo as your duty...

    Dirty Harry Holster Home Made

Are you left-handed? Your holster seems to be a mirror-image of the one Eastwood is wearing. Excellent holster! You ought to sell your work!
