    Opinions on wood Houge grips?

I'm not a fan of finger grooves so I don't use them, (for me they take too much time to index.) But I've used Hogues with no finger grooves for many years on K, L and N frames. The N frames are both 629-2s; a four-inch and a 6.5" with a full underlug (a "Classic Hunter", from Horton, circa...

Whats the first gun your dad let you shoot?

A Winchester 1892 in .25-20. Dad died when I was 12 and as a young man I foolishly let it get away from me. At least I still have his shotgun.

    CO movie theater shooting

We'd all like to think that "had someone been carrying" they may have been able to short circuit this fruitloop's agenda. But given that he had prepared so well, with all the tac gear and soft armor, I think it unlikely that any of us could have intervened decisively with a handgun. However, I...

    J-Frame Not Holding Single-Action Cocking

That is not an unusual problem for our revolvers. It's closely related to "push-off", in which the hammer, when cocked, will push off and move forward. I believe, (help me out here, you gunsmith guys,) that it is simply a lack of complete sear/hammer engagement. This can happen when someone not...

Yeah, that's what they do. They'll only handle so much recoil, then they let you know. If you want to go hotter buy a Ruger.

Best Practice Ammo vs Defense Ammo

BTW, don't carry your own reloads If you shoot someone with ammunition you have reloaded you open the door for plaintiff's council to paint you as a scheming, premeditating sociopath that prepared his murderous ammo with "malice aforethought." You would likely find yourself in front of a jury...

    Looking for J frame grips

I like Pachys The Pachmayer Gripper Decelerators really took the sting out of shooting my 60-15 with full-house Cor-bon ammo. With Golden Sabres it's a joy to shoot. They're around $30.

    .44 mag shoots high

There's a lot of barrel time in one that long. To hit lower you've got to speed up the bullet. 25 yards is very short range. Push that target back to 75 (100 is better) and it will likely drop right in. 10" paper plates work nicely.
