Ammo For 9mm Shield For EDC, I prefer Hornady Critical Defense. At 115gr. it has manageable recoil and will do the job it is expected to. For training & targets the shield easily chews up Blazer Brass, Winchester White, Magtech and Sellier & Bellot.

My Shield 9mm is carried with Federal Hyrdra-Shock (135 gr.) which cycles with no problem. I was thinking of a more modern carry-load like the Hornady Critical Defense. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to purchase the Shield 9mm at Carter Country on I-10 in Houston. They had more. I fired 200 rounds today at the range and the gun operation was flawless accurate, no FTF, FTE, etc). I have never been so impressed with a firearm. KUDOs to S&W

Pro-Tech holsters customer service checked with S&W and said a size 3 side carry holster should fit the Shield. For $17.95 at "Big Daddy's" at E-Bay I thought I would take a chance. Will post when the item arrived and checked out.

I found magazines for the M&P Shield 9mm, extended 8 round on E-Bay from "Joe's Pawn". They also have the 7 round clip in 9mm. They list the items (2 clips) for $79.80 plus $4.99 shipping, but accept best offers. I paid a total of $74.99 shipping included. Hope this helps.

I couldn't find any in central Texas where I live, but got lucky during a recent trip to Houston. Paid $449 plus tax. I prefer buying in person so I can inspect the firearm before buying it (no scratches, mars, missing parts, obvious defects, etc).

I like my LCP .380 for pocket carry, but Ruger's warranty is limited compared to S&W Lifetime. I am inclined toward the S&W Shield 9 as my other 9 (Beretta 9000s/f) is much heavier for IWB carry.
