    Robbery Scenario: What to do?

A lot depends on who you are, where you are who the criminal is, etc. Many years ago in N.C. I worked for a man who used to own a big plant in town. He also owned a pawn shop. One day a black youth came in, grabbed a gold chain and started running towards the door. Mr. Ben shot him dead...

    Sneaky Pete

Sneaky Pete use is not a good idea When you wear an item like a Sneaky Pete, with "SP" in big letters it certainly would tip-off anyone gun-wise that you're carrying. I don't know what the particulars of the laws on concealed carry are everywhere but it raises questions which might well vary...

    CCW Renewal Done Right

it's easy to renew CWP in Florida I renewed my Florida concealed permit today. The licenses are issued by the Fl Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services. They mailed me the renewal forms, you can renew by mail (which takes up to 8 weeks and you have to include a color passport type picture)...

    640 pro good gun?

put a laser on it I have one...the gun works fine but it's a bear when shooting any kind of 357 ammo in it. The night sites are night sites...nothing special. If I didn't have other carry guns I would put a C/T laser on it and load it with 38 special 125 gr JHP +P or 158 SWC-HP lead +P.

So I have this Colt Python...

fix it then sell it...quick before people stop paying big money for what is frequently a piece of junk gun. I have owned about a dozen or so in the past and have wholesaled many dozens of them (back when they were a current model). I realize that some gun sellers have boosted Python prices to...

    Always call the police?

don't call the police My experience is never call the police for anything if it can possibly be avoided. The days of "protect and serve" and "Officer Friendly" are ancient history. Many of today's law enforcement officers are indoctrinated in political correctness and strongly believe in...

    Need gun show advice please

go to an arms collector show I live in NE Florida and "gun shows" here are mostly just the same old dealers trying to unload the same old goods. Frequently, not even guns, but knives, tarps, camo gear, survival food, etc. I stopped going to most shows years ago except for the ones put on by...

Model 29 or 629 -- which would you buy?

simple...keep the one YOU like the best Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Everything else being equal they're the same except for the type steel. Just keep in mind that stainless will rust, too although blue steel requires more maintenance to stay pretty..

    Please Close

the Diamondback is simply a D frame Colt with VR and adjustable sights, so a holster for any of the D frames with 4 inch barrel ought to work.

    Model 29-2 side plate replacement

If it works don't mess with it. If you can't see the defect, leave it alone. You may decide to sell or trade the gun and will never recover the price of buying and fitting the new side plate and oh yes, if you don't refinish the gun the sideplate and rest of frame will not match if it's a blue...

    Report on J-frame quality control

S&W in the 1970's were awful If you think today's S&W revolvers are sloppy they used to be even worse. Back in the 1970's I worked for a major S&W general distributor and the guns put out under Bangor Punta ownership were frequently awful. I ordered a new model 36 3 inch nickel for myself and...

Colt Detective Special vs S&W Chiefs Special?

I'd take the Detective Special Slightly larger frame, easier to handle. 6 instead of 5 rounds. Out of the box much better leaf-spring action instead of coil spring S&W. I own a number of J frames and D frame Colts.

Plz ID this old gun for me thx.

The LGS should know exactly what model it is since they have to keep that information in their federal records...what does it say on the sale tag?

    A quality budget priced 1911

the 1911 isn't "all that" The Colt 1911 was and is a really great gun for a military weapon firing FMC military-spec ammo. The Model-T was also a wonderful automobile for the time, great for driving in the heavily-rutted dirt roads that were the rule. However, the idea that the 1911 is still...

    49 year old reloads

properly stored ammo should last a long long time keep ammo in a cool, dry place. Back in the 1970s I bought thousands of rounds of WWI U.S. surplus 45 ACP ammo in what appeared to be horrible shape: dirty, green slime on some cases, etc. I cleaned up the dirty cases and proceeded to shoot...

    Glock 43 awful design

I sent a G21 back to Glock 6 times because of jamming problems, when that model first came out years ago. Each time I got the 21 back it still jammed, Glock told me how there was nothing wrong with it but each time there was noticeable evidence of the gun being modified in various ways. After...

Sloppy Fit Performance Center 9L Barrel

Performance center...why? Why is it you're supposed to spend hundreds of dollars for a S&W gun but if you want one that actually works like it should you have to spend big extra $$ to get one "tuned" by the performance center? What a rip-off! It's always amazed me how gun buyers routinely...

Why stay away from Gun Shows?

I stay away most of the gun shows in NE Fla are a joke....maybe 120 tables and half of those are knives, survival gear, tasers and all kinds of other stuff - not guns. Most of the guns there are new from dealers and I can buy most any of them from a big shop here in town for less...without...

    S&W Model 41 magazines

S&W model 41 mags are a joke the factory mags have a small pin extending out from the follower, used to pull the follower down. These will tear up your thumb or finger if you load them a lot without some type device to hold the follower down while doing so. The same mags fit the cheapy models...
