Purchase a new S&W 617 4" with 10 rd. capacity last November. Expensive? You could say so, but I love the thing. I have pushed thousands of rounds through it and a savings greater than the cost of the gun. I still enjoy my 38sp and 45acp pieces, but my overall handgun ability has improved...

The standard 625 would meet my needs, the JM (stocks, trigger and sight) are more that I want, but if the standard is no longer in production I guess I'll find a used one or go with a JM. Thanks for the reply.

I think you're right regarding the "standard" being discontinued. The JM seems "gussied" up to me, but I may have to go that way to get what. Thanks for taking time to read and reply.

Hey, thanks for that detailed reply, you are very familiar with the pluses and minues of the JM. I'm just looking for the standard 625-8, but I'm confused because Budsguns says they are expecting from whereI don't know. Another member suggest that I get the JM. Regards.

Looking for S&W 625-8 ACP (nonJM) 4"bbl. Is it still manufactured? Buds Guns still carries the model number 160935 in its data base, but it's out of stock. Comments.

JM stands for Jerry Miculek a speed shooter and member of S&W design team. The JM is a S&W 625-8 that has been modified with a removal front sight, a wider trigger with grooves and wood stocks. The JM model is geared to competition shooting.

The more comfortable I get with the numbers, the easier it will be to pull the trigger on a deal. The numbers are all over the place but confortable with $600 - $ 700 for a good 625-8 and $ 700- $800 for a JM. All the responses here have been great in clarifing reasonable costs. Thanks for...
