    17 vs. 18: what's the difference?

Interesting Mod 18 story. My dad and I often did gun deals where I was the owner in end runs around Mom. I was just out of high school and working when dad got offered a new Mod 18 via a co-worker who had bought a 17 and a 18 and got caught by his wife. I put up half and we called it mine. 57...

M586 Brazilian to refinish or not

I would leave it alone. It's scratches, not rust. Make up a good story about how they got there and stick with it. In 25 yrs it will be folklore.

Confession time - let's see those .25 autos

Baby Browning trade In the mid 60's I traded something for a .25 Baby Browning thinking I actually needed a pocket gun. Shooting into a seasoned oak backstop I got a straight on bounceback into my leg, just breaking the skin, and making me mad. Not impressed. Traded it off. I was also careful...

    New to me 18-3 22LR

Seldom used, I have the black leather military flap holster for the .38 on a webb belt. Fits and protects my 18-4 perfectly. Any current holster listed for the K frame .38 will fit your K frame .22.

An Interesting (to me) Old Winchester Model 12

Dads old gun My dad lost his father when he was 10 and was loaned out to another farmer who had no children. This farmer had a Model 12 in 16 ga and would hunt at the drop of a hat. My dad obtained that gun in the 60s and in the 70s I sent it to Simens Gun for a vent rib and refinishing as a...

    642 J-frame and HKS speedloader

I copied the photo of the Pachmayr Compact grips to use as a pattern to modify a custom wood grip on my 642 so I can use HKS's. Bought Hogue Bantams but like the wood too much.

Information about a 22 LR Revolver?

Dad's old gun, good quality, and good shooter make it priceless. Keep it and enjoy it. Bought mine with my dad in the 60's and it goes to my son.

.22 caliber revolver for self defense

I quote an old Gun Digest penetration article that shows the 22LR (2"), 32 S&W Long, 32 ACP, and 44 C&B all at 13.4-13.8" of penetration in 20% gelatin. THIS HURTS in anybodys book. I was on a jury locally where 4 dealers were all carrying and used pocket 22s.

    .25 ACP ballistic test-vs .22 Long Rifle

Not impressed Shooting into a seasoned oak backstop at close range, I had a .25 from a little Browning bounce back and hit me in the shin. No blood, lots of hurt, and some bruising. Not impressed. Any port in a storm but I would never buy one. An old TV showed a .25 being given to a woman for...

    Slide racker Avaialbe for 22A?

Tried the Republic Machine & Trading slide racker and it is great. Thought I wanted something with wings on both sides for a balanced grip but the design he has is "the cats meow". Looking at Ed Brown Products screw on "magazine bumper pads" for a 1911 for my 22A Mags.

    22A slide extension

Added a Red Dot to my 22A as my 65 yr old eyes can no longer see iron sights. I milled an extra slot in top rail to allow sight to set straight above grip to maintain balance. Where you place the dot is where the bullet goes.:) Love it. Very tight space now to grip and work the slide. Anyone...
