    SD9 VE or Ruger SR9

+1. Photos are good, as are informed opinions, but in the end, it's you who's going to be shooting the gun. By the way, the magazine disconnect safety is extremely easy to remove if you want to, and just as easy putting it back in.

    SD9 VE or Ruger SR9

Okay, here are some comparison photos. The Ruger SR9C has the black slide, the S&W SD9VE has the semi-polished slide. They both have a grip sleeve on, which I forgot to remove for the photos. If these need to be resized, please let me know. They were resized to a maximum of 800 X 600. Slides...

    SD9 VE or Ruger SR9

I have both. I'll echo what the others have said: 1. The SR9C has a manual safety and a magazine disconnect safety. The SD has no safety. 2. The SR9C comes with two 17-shot magazines. The SD comes with two 16-shot magazines. Fair enough. 3. The SR9C's barrel is just a tad shorter than the SD's...

    Galloway guiderod arrived :-)

I didn't think the SD series could fire shotgun shells. Kidding! I'm considering getting a Galloway rod for my SD9VE.

I'm also a lefty. No problems with the magazine release button, slide stop, or anything else.

Shoot through a window? That's what the 12 gauge slugs or .308 are for.

    New SD9VE Owner: Questions

Okay, I tried the photo-taking thing again. Nothing has been done to the gun since the photos above; I just did these outside. There's quite a bit of glare since the slide is reflecting light, but these are better than the previous ones. Maybe tilting the gun will help...

    New SD9VE Owner: Questions

Photos added. They're not good photos, but they do show a little of what I did. And, I think we all like seeing Smith photos. Uncle Mike's (Butler Creek) grip and flashlight were installed after my initial posting. Please let me know if these need to be resized; they were resized to a maximum of...

    New SD9VE Owner: Questions

All guns are pretty to me, even the Hi-Points. I wanted to get an "already broken-in" look on the slide, and it looks like I've gotten that. I did the polish already. It looks less grey now, and more of a dull matte stainless. I thought I saw the manual state that +P is okay, but I loaned the...

    Uses for SD9VE

Show it to the Glock guys and say "Try this, it's better". :D Seriously, full-size home defense option for my wife since I'll have a 12 gauge.

Mine were hard to get the last two in, so I used the metal magazine loader from my Ruger. After a while, they get easier to load. A LULA might help.

    New SD9VE Owner: Questions

I've been around guns all my life, and have owned them since I legally could. I'm very familiar with how they work, how to care for them, and how to modify some of them. However, I have a few questions about my new SD9VE. 1. I want to polish the slide. Not shiny enough that it will show...
