Need Some Info on a S&W Revolver

If it’s just a run of the mill 686-6, then it’s not that great of a deal. Easy to tell…the -6 has the internal lock and I would pass on it at that price. Very common variation. If it is a 686-4 7 shot, you should not pass it up, especially in a 4”. There is a possibility it’s a 681; maybe...

    Great movie on Prime

Not so much an influence as similarities. I was afraid some would take offense to the Tarantino reference, but I just included it because their styles are the same. Lots of gratuitous spraying blood and body parts being thrown asunder. I especially liked the turn it took when he enlisted the...

    Great movie on Prime

If you have a chance, catch Sisu on Prime before it’s taken down. Made in Finland, so there’s no recognizable actors, but a lot of action. Lots of Tarantino influence with over the top gore and dark humor.

Police get a new tool to stop drivers: Beware the Grappler!

I agree with gjgalligan…it was only a matter of time before the perp totaled it trying to escape anyway, And there’s the very high probability that innocents would have been injured or killed in the process had the grappler not been deployed.

Police get a new tool to stop drivers: Beware the Grappler!

It's almost as if the other officer backed up some to give the perp a little more "running room". The two cops were probably communicating back and forth…hey, watch this, then a lot of laughter. 😂

Does your revolver have a story to tell?

The closest thing to a story about a revolver I have is the first Model 610 I bought was allegedly used by a high ranking Marine Officer in competition, Camp Perry, perhaps? I received it with this handwritten card when I bought it back in 2009. I've tried googling the name McCracken, but have...

AI is really getting dangerous & scary!

Elon has just completed another one of these and there’s at least five more in the planning stage. Then there’s Stargate, Open AI’s contender which is seeking to unseat Colossus as the king of AI data centers. Not to mention ChatGPT and others. We’re doomed…doomed I tell ya! We are but...

    Looking HARD at a 2.0 10mm

I’ve had one of the 4.6” ones for a couple of years now. After a bit of a break in period, it became very reliable. I shoot mainly 180 and 200 grain Berry’s plated bullets in it at 1200 and 1050 fps, respectively. At this point, I’m probably well over 2K rounds and no issues. I sheared the...

First time firing my 360 PD bad experience

Ouch! BB 140 grain in a Scandium framed revolver is purely masochistic! When I had one, I put a few fairly mild factory .357 loads through it, and that was pure hell. I ended up loading some practice .357 rounds that were a little hotter than .38 +P, but still short of the standard factory...

moving my herd east, looking for advice

We are moving in the next couple of months, though not nearly as far as you. When I get to the safe moving weekend sometime in September, I plan on clearing everything out of it and putting them all in zippered pistol rugs, then putting the rugs in the same Lowe’s black and yellow containers you...

Vacuum Sealing Ammo: Yae or Nae?

Whatever floats your boat. Mine’s all in ziplock bags inside military ammo cans stored on shelves in my hot and humid garage. It all goes bang when I need it to.

Model 52 that my heart desires!

Now that I have the full s/n, I checked the completed s/n lookup database. The two closest are 55569 shipped in June ‘64 and 55985 shipped in Oct ‘64. The Oct pistol is only 49 ahead of mine, so my guess would be Sept or Oct ‘64…earlier than I thought…Cool! I requested a ship date, so we’ll get...

Model 52 that my heart desires!

It’s mine! And I’m doing my happy dance! This pistol is absolutely gorgeous. Box matches the gun, but no barrel bushing wrench. Best part is he knocked $100 off because I traveled so far. I can’t wait to shoot it. How close am I on my date guess of 1965?

Model 52 that my heart desires!

Yes, I do reload, so that’s a plus. I’ve loaded a lot of .38 Special Wadcutter, but only for revolvers. Is it exactly the same .38 Special rimmed case? Luckily, I’ll have half a box of factory ammo to get some good measurements from.

    My First 1917, a Shooter

I’ve got one of those😜 Someone went totally maniacal with the buffing wheel on mine, but they did a pretty decent job of blueing. It was cheap and purty, with matching numbers, so I couldn’t pass it up. I also went with a set of Ken’s exquisite stags on it as well.
